I would own 3 out of 4 cars you listed there. In fact, I have been actively looking for all three. (The Yugo, the Lada and the Trabant.)
| I would love a Lada Niva or a Yugo GV... Have you ever actually driven a Yugo GV? they were the kind of car that was just so flimsy and so throwaway that it was tough as fuck car. My friend Rob had a fleet of Yugo's him and his dad used to tow fish shanties on and off the ice. If you flopped it in the ditch, three guys could put it back on the road. If you broke it, it took a pair of vice grips, a roll of duct tape and maybe an adjustable wrench to fix it. It would climb ATV trails like a goat, traverse mud pits like a redneck Blazer on crack and still get 45mpg all the live long day... it was shame that Yugo went the way of the dodo. yes, i actually said that... it was a shame that Yugo went the way of the dodo. And Bandi, yes the car is that awful. i mean, it barely beats walking, but I am counting the days until I get my car back.

| | | My boyfriend just traded his 2010 Hyundai Genesis for a 2013 GTI Wolfsburg edition. The Hyundai was pretty terrible. In the space of 66 000 Km (he bought it new), everything with chrome was flaking off, it went trough 3 sets of pads, 1 caliper (seized, replaced under warranty), 2 sets of rotors, and 2 sets of shoes (e-brake, they broke apart at 21 000km). The dash was rattling, it was loud, uncomfortable, terribly small and cramped, transmission felt clunky, and it was expensive. Never liked the car.

| his Genesis was not an anomaly... all those Hyundais and Kia's are like that. But, damn, aren't they easy to buy?!? (eyeroll)

I've never driven a Yugo, I've only ever seen two in the flesh. One, for sale for $75 with a valid safety inspection when I was 16. My dad wouldn't let me buy it. The other one is used by a shop in Toronto for a promotional vehicle. I'd certainly take a Niva, but what I really want is a 1600 - like this: I'd give it a 2.5" drop, add some deep 13" Minilite style wheels, two 7" round driving lights, and an Abarth engine. It would be glorious.
