He's an 80-year-old man in a 30-something's body.

I called mine the Won'tstart. I literally pushed it into the dealer to trade it in two weeks before the recall for the axle breaking.

Literally while driving it to the dealership to trade it in, my Mom's 97 wontstart threw a rod. The piece of shit only had 35k miles on it.

My trans took a shit at 80k. I looked online, and the Feds had over 200 complaints about my model year's (99) trans dying at that exact mileage.

Also went:
Rear axle (snapped in two. That should not happen. Ever.)
Water pump
Power steering pump
Trans cooler lines
Drive belt
Four starters
Alternator
Radio (it had Rush's "Snakes and Arrows" stuck in it for over a year)

Needless to say, I'm not a Ford enthusiast.

Somehow I can't see that underpowered gutless wonder moving 15 people at a reasonable speed down an interstate. Maybe moving band equipment or some measure of autoparts or small animals, but not as a serious people mover. That's why there are still V8-powered RWD behemoths to move people.

Yeah, even the EuroVan got replaced by the Routan which had 3 times more sales

The Routan didn't sell at all, and was cancelled 2 years early because it was a piece of garbage. I have 5 Eurovans at my shop right now for various maintenance work and repairs (nothing serious), which tells me they weren't all that bad of a seller seeing as the most recent one there is a 1994. (They sold them here until '02).

Eurovans are awesome and far from gutless... they have an insanely beefy undercarriage with massive torsion bars in the front and coils in the rear (with independent suspension) that look like they were borrowed from a Freightliner.

The Routan (like its Dodge counterpart) is just a terrible vehicle that makes everyone sad. (like its Dodge counterpart)

It's time for the minivan to die.

Fuck no.

There was 14,681 Routans sold between 2008 and 2010.

I can't remember where I saw this, but the figure the EuroVan was somewhere in the 5000 range....

Its possible; I'm just going off the sales figures for the US from VW on them.

VW interestingly has no stats on the EuroVan during its sale in North America that I can find.

I think VW of America if they are serious about a van in North America, should bring over the Toraun.
