hey hey, give cred where cred is due! Our shitbox volvos are the only reason that fuel injected cars are availible to general masses. Hopefully ford sells volvo back to sweden or something....

Euro cars > domestics (with a few slight exceptions...)

And yes I do know that it originally was chevy's idea...

actually, it was a german that came up with fuel injection... GM just made it work on a mass-produced family V8.

I've worked on them all, sold parts for them all, and I'll tell you point blank... you can keep your fucking Volvos. I know Saab is owned by GM now, but the older Saabs... what a pain in the ass getting parts for them! And what was with putting the engine in backwards?

Nope, you can keep your weirdo euro cars...

Personally, I'm pretty bitter about Saab getting tanked.... Although the engine thing wasn't exactly that practical either... But hey, it was better than the cheapo rebadged ecotecs....

Honestly, while I am partial to my volvos, I wouldn't bat an eye if my '81 or my '79 magically dropped off of a cliff one day.... the '79 is just shy of 300K on the original engine, no rebuild...

the '96, well it's an auto and while I've considering giving it some dignity by swapping in a manual, it's just not worth the $$ at the moment...

Anyways, BMW M3 here I come! (ETA: next year)

I'm an Ecotec owner and I absolutely love that engine. It is a VAST improvement over the 2.3L Quad 4 and 2.4L Twin Cams of yore.

As for mileage, hehehe, my friend Ray gave his ex-wife the Cavalier when they split up. It was a 93 Cavalier RS coupe with the 3.1LV6/5gear... 359,000 miles on the engine... My friend Victor has a 92 Lumina Euro 3.1L coupe with 279,000 miles on the engine. Me, personally, my last Cavalier (98 2.2L OHV/SFI) went 217,000 uner my command and was driven another 2 years by a nutty girl from Fair Haven VT... at 277,000, she drove it under a Dodge Ram.

Saabs and Volvos are big in Vermont, but that's the land of the transplanted New England re-badged yuppie... over here in Bulgaria of the north, you don't see them that often.

Oh, and Nismo, one of these days we'll meet up at Napierville and you can show me just how mean your GTi can be... just don't be surprised when the SS puts the smack down. (I've been dying to say that to someone all morning!)
