When I was away on winter break, I bought a pre-owned fur coat at a thrift shop.
I wear it to school when it gets cold enough. Before school starts, a lot of people gather in the commons. I was sitting at a table, wearing my coat when this girl asks me how many animals I had to kill to get it. The day before, that same girl was wearing boots trimmed with real rabbit fur. I pointed that out to her and she seemed a little embarrased.

I really dont understand why the people who give me snide comments about my coat wear leather and don't say anything about the girls who wear UGG boots and clothes with fur trim.

Btw: before you label me as an animal murderer, you should know that the only fur I wear is pre-owned, fake, or vintage. I don't buy fur new, which requires companies to kill more animals.

A lot of people justify wearing leather because they're under the assumption that the cows used to make leather are the same ones that are used for beef. Whether that is true or not, I don't know.

Personally, I think fur looks tacky as shit, and wouldn't wear it for that reason alone.

The thing about leather is that MOST of it come from the meat industry. Leather that comes from India... lets just say that the cows are killed only for their leather and they are not treated very nice.

Some leather such as calfskin, I do not wear. It comes from the veal industry where the baby cows are separated from their mothers and are kept immobilized in tiny crates for 6 months straight. They are kept immobilized so their meat is tender.
