I hate those assholes. Now where do I start?

At www.milkgonewild.com they are telling us to belive that milk is so harmful to your health that a glass of beer is better. according to them, milk can lead to prostate cancer, impotence, breast cancer, heart disease, and obesity.\

www.petakillsanimals.com is exposing how PETA euthanizes most of the animals it takes in because it is crueler to have them wait to find a home. I don't trust that source completely becasue it is made by the Center for Consumer Protection (or something like that). I don't trust them becaause the CCP has been known to defend tobacco companies and other reasons.

PETA does demos in which donated fur coats are ruined and splashed with paint. One way to ensure the animals truly did die for nothing.

PETA claims this will happen to you if you eat fish:

Mercury is known to cause severe health problems for humans, including brain damage, memory loss, personality change, tremors, spontaneous abortion, and damage to a developing fetus.15 Mercury poisoning from eating fish can also cause fatigue and memory loss, which some doctors call “fish fog.”16

Got this pack of exaggerated BullShit from www.fishinghurts.com

PETA is also trying to persuade Boy Scouts to remove fishing as a merit badge.

PETA has apparently distributed this propaganda to children:

Anywho, PETA is the reason I have two pre-owned fur coats in my wardrobe, which I love wearing

Fuck Peta. Fuck Tibet. Fuck hippies. Fuck the environment. I'm gonna go out and buy a hummer now, a fur coat for my girlfriend, and I'm gonna drive over some Tibetan protesters.

I just watched I Am An Animal: The Story of Ingrid Newkirk and PETA (2007) on the pay-TV channel. Well that was pretty much a softball doc/bio on Newkirk. I prefer the Penn & Teller version...

Having a beer or two a day has been shown to reduce one's risk of strokes, heart, and vascular disease. It's also fat and cholesterol free and contains protein, calcium, potassium, phosphorus and vitamins B, B2, and B6.

The Cancer Prevention Coalition sites milk as a cause of breast, colon, and prostate cancers; though they specify it's the hormone-laden milk that's the worst.

www.petakillsanimals.com is exposing how PETA euthanizes most of the animals it takes in because it is crueler to have them wait to find a home. I don't trust that source completely becasue it is made by the Center for Consumer Protection (or something like that). I don't trust them becaause the CCP has been known to defend tobacco companies and other reasons.

According to this website (a website that claims trans fats aren't dangerous, there is no pet overpopulation problem, and that mad cow disease is a myth), PETA euthanized nearly 3,000 companion animals. According to the website for the Asheville, NC Humane Association, they euthanized nearly 5,000. On average, 6,500,000 animals are euthanized each year. So, even if this website is true on the PETA figures, it's a drop in a very large bucket.

After a certain amount of time, caged animals in shelters can develop what is known as "cage crazies". They're restless, self destructive, and aggressive. Would it be better to leave them in the cage and hope for someone to adopt a "special needs" animal, or would it be better to euthanize them painlessly?

PETA does demos in which donated fur coats are ruined and splashed with paint. One way to ensure the animals truly did die for nothing.

Yeah, this is a dick move.

These are all symptoms of mercury poisoning. The FDA has recommended women who are pregnant limit their fish intake because of the chances of the mercury in the fish causing problems with the baby. The largest cause of mercury poisoning is eating tainted fish.

I understand where you're coming from but I tell ya - I adopted my girl kitty Violaine from the Clarington animal shelter in August 2006. She had been in the shelter for a whole year (age about 1 year at the time) and the shelter staff told me that had I not adopted her she would most definitely "used up" her welcome and would be due for euthanizing in a matter of days. She's a bundle of love and I can tell by the way she acts. It's almost as if she was aware of what was coming and actually genuinely appreciated the rescue. I know you can't save every animal but I'm so glad I saved Violaine.

awww such a cute cat! I'm happy that you adopted her from the animal shelter, especially since she would have been euthanized.

I always tell my friends to consider adopting from an animal shelter first because they'd be giving a second chance to an animal that was abandoned/neglected or even saving their lives..

I like that PETA goes after corporations that abuse animals, however their position is not to use animals for anything. I'm sorry, but I will continue to eat meat, drink milk, eat eggs, cheese, ect. because I am near the top of the food chain. I digest the food, poo the food, and give back to nature. I also use the energy from the digestion of the food to do other things, such as plant more stuff in my garden.

Use animals mercyfully - YES

Abuse animals for no good reason - NO

Good for you for adopting her. All my dogs are either direct rescues (found them) or from shelters. Casper, my oldest, was about to wear out his welcome at the humane society. Lily, the pit bull/lab mix, came from a rescue called "Last Hope", because her next stop was the humane society.

Seconded.

When we rescued Poppy, she was going to be either dumped at a shelter or put down by her owners because they considered her too crazy. They couldn't be bothered with her after the cuteness wore off and when the dog started reacting, locked her up and on occasion, the owner's boyfriend would beat on her.

No regrets rescuing her and when we get another dog, (either as a buddy for Poppy or her successor), it will be from the shelter.

And likewise to you SaraBellum. Rescues are one heck of a challenge and a huge reward.

I'm taking in a foster on Monday. She's 4 1/2 months old, and was found tied to a porch with a note that plead for the homeowner to take care of her.

I don't think Poppy's cuteness has worn off, by the way.

Comparing someone to Hitler pretty much nullifies any merit your argument might have had. It's like people who refer to Bush as Hitler; he's not. He's a terrible person, and a terrible president, but nowhere near as bad as Hitler. Same thing here. Regardless of how you feel about the president of PETA, it's insulting to everyone persecuted under the Nazi regime to draw parallels between the two.

I'm Jewish, by the way. I'm comparing her to Hitler because PETA reminds me of the Nazi party. Nowhere near as bad, but with all the lies and propaganda, I see some similarities.

Being Jewish doesn't justify you to compare people to Hitler.

Hitler wasn't the only person in history to use lies and propaganda. Not even bloody close. Stalin?
