sam, you would know, i remember when the cobalt first came out the ss had 5 lugnuts the rest 4, i saw a 4 door last night with 5 lugnuts did i miss somthing

base/LS had 4 lugnuts.
LT/SS/Sport had 5.

rear discs were not optional on the LT until 2007 or 08.

they do that to screw up the auto journalists. i once when i was in detroit saw at a gas station a heavily disguised ford with lada emblems

I got a Cobalt SS not to long ago. Interior is crap compared to my old 06 Civic Si but everything else is great

My uncle when he first started out with Ford worked in the field research branch of the R&D department which they would do the drive tests in public. Generally, if they need to leave the emblems on, they would place gaffers tape over them, but they rather not even have them on because there was on auto reporter that actually removed them and took pictures of the prototype car that became the 3rd generation Ford Escort while the car was in a parking lot of a Dennys.

He also mentioned to me the tell tale signs of a test vehicle is in the license plates. GM and Ford use the manufacturer plates from Ontario and Michigan; generally they use the Ontario one in Michigan and vice versa. I know, its a cheap trick.
