| | | Okay, so I made a comment earlier in this thread about being all open-minded and mature about music, and about making the effort to appreciate styles and genres that I wouldn't normally consider. Sometimes, you have to put your money where your mouth is! So, I've been listening to a lot of Britney Spears. Yup, Britney. Months ago, my wife, in a moment of personal amusement, bought us some unjustifiably expensive tickets to see Britney, and the show is next week. It's not like she's even a Britney fan! Now, I figure how much I enjoy this is up to me, and I can either complain and be cynical, or I can just go with it and try to have some fun. So I've been playing the two most recent albums over and over to get familiar with them. Not something I'd generally be listening to. After a week or two of trying to shirk my snobbishness and get into it, I have to say it's not that hard to do. The dancey pop stuff, which is most of it, is just fun stuff, and actually pretty good for riding to work. The occasional warbly broken-voiced ballad about love gone wrong is still in there, but it's the exception, rather than the rule. Anyway, just under a week to go!

| Well, one can become a fan of any type of style/genre just by listening to it as much as possible. You did exactly that and you got right into it. There is absolutely no shame at all in listening to britney spears or any other pop/dance type singer. Music should be appreciated for what it is. In regards to the show i think you'll have a really good time. Just uh..don't forget the souvenirs for cr400 and myself. Posted by cr400 I'm pretty much a fan of anything, I know I could sit thru one of her concerts. I happen to like Pink, and Fergie also. And this song of Brits is pretty damn cool, And she's soooo hot lookin'!!!!! I hope she gets her life back!! http://www.youtube...atch?v=oaPuWjyGqTA
| Double points earned! And yeah Britney has usually always looked good. Hell even with no hair she looked kinda good. ...just sayin'

| | | Thanks for startin' this thread, I've been able to expand my mind and wrap it around some new music. The bluegrass is awesome, can't believe I had not ever listened to Satriani!!!! What was I thinking? Never appreciated Rush, till now!! Here is some stripped down rock, out in the sticks. Performed by a group you wouldn't expect to see in a country bar in Alaska. I don't know where the harmonica player came from? He could just be a local guy? Anyway, no banjo, sorry Meta, and Esoterik. http://www.youtube...atch?v=8wiq5iG4Cfs

| | | I had completely forgotten that Steve Martin shreds a banjo. That whole band is pretty awesome, Vince Gill is great on his Telecaster, the steel/slide/dobro? is the guy from Union station, keyboards are Paul Shaefer, The acoustic player, and the old fart with the mullet on electric, not sure who they are? No slouches in that lineup. Hey Meta How was the concert? We're dyin' to know!!
