The problem is that some of the first cars with DRLs actually were at 3000+ candelas instead of the initial recommendation of 1500 candelas which became a federal standard in the US and Canada. Its the perfect brightness because glare at that power is not an issue.

I was worried about my 1321.8 candela lights not meeting the federal requirement, so worried in fact, that I was kept awake.

Do you own shares in Wikipedia or something? lol

Actually, I know the Federal standards because back in HS, I had a crazy idea to actually build my own car and well did some deep research into the regulations on cars.

And I know you could care less if your headlights or your turn signals work

I know if you have a car with a 9C1 package available, the DRL can be disabled another way.

I'd say in your case you could remove the DRL module since I believe (not 100% sure) that trying to jumper then elsewhere is going to be hard.

Yeah, a friend on his Impala had this same issue. In his case it was actually going to high beams when he turned the lights on in general.

Wouldn't that go back to bringing back the Omni?

Like 10 years ago I had a "Top Ten reasons not to have sex in a Dodge Omni" and one of them was "The headliner sags so badly it's like doing it in a tent anyway"

I put HIDs in a friend's 02 Cavalier, which really don't like to be run at half voltage... pulled the DRL relay and it triggered a code (although high and low beams still worked fine), so he ordered a new BCM and just set it up as a US spec vehicle with the Tech 2... worked! I would have just dealt with the warning light personally, but I AM a VW driver.

The DRL module I know on some GM and Ford cars for whatever reason don't trigger a code. My friends Impala was one of those; after I pulled the DRL module, I ran it with my OBDII cable to my PC and nada on any codes. I'm not sure why this is; I would think its a universal thing.

I used a straight edge to put very neat rows of staples in my '79 Sedan Deville and I just broke down and bought headliner fabric and re glued my '82 Chevette.

heh, I'm thinking either stripping the headliner out and gluing in some black faux-velvet stuff I have laying around or taking the tacks out and putting them back in, making a picture with them. Depends on how bored I get I suppose.

Walmart discoed a flame pattern and I did the head liner and all material inserts in a old 88 5th ave with it. Twas awesomeness. Got the whole bolt of cloth for 5 bucks. All in all it cost me about $12. And was worth every penny.

The half way across the dash speedometers. Think 60's and early 70's.

I love mine...
