if K&N's filtration technology was an actual breakthrough, you would think that it would have caught on in the commercial end. there is no free lunch, K&N's claims of increased horsepower come at the price of reduced particulate filtration and that is that.

I get K&N for free... and their cone filters are pretty decent.

i have been using K&N's for over a DECADE.
oh well... i guess when my engine blows up at 300,000 miles, i can blame it on the K&N air and oil filters I run.

the ONE most important thing with a K&N is that when you are re-oiling it, DO NOT GO FUCKING LOOPY with the oil. If you do, it runs out of the filter and just destroys your MAF sensor (especially in GM's so equipped)

So tell me, Louie, where are you getting your info from? I was just curious, because everything sitting in my driveway, my father's driveway and my brothers' driveway (and he is a GM tech) has a K&N drop-in filter or replacement filter? We've been running them for years with no problem.
(and before you get that cross look on your face, and get your panties in a bunch, my Dad's 98 Explorer has almost 300,000 miles on it. I'm just curious where you are getting this from.)

i had the same K&N is three cars and it's lived on in two others. As far as I know, it's still in a friends' Sunfire.
I've never had a problem with them and my engines have demonstrated their longevity.

I have run K/N before and have no complaints. That said I will not run another on in an off-road enviroment with lots of dust. The Camaro has one, none of the Jeeps will. Now their CAI systems are well made and top notch. But I don't care for KN in a off road enviroment. Just me. I will say this tho, they flow better with 25,000 miles on them than when they are brand new.

Exactly. We run 'em in the rally cars, I run 'em in my street cars, and the bug has had one since day 1.

I actually had a K&N system put in my old Caravan back in New York.

What I remember reading about the people who had problems with them is the fact they did not install them right.

well a cone filter, it only goes on ONE WAY, and a panel filter, you can close the air box if its upside down...
