Depends on what kind of expedition it is. I have some cheapies to loan to people when we're strolling through a building, but if it's crazier I like to have better lights. Cavers swear by their lights.

I've got one of these made by pro master its really not bad and 300+ foot range is nice. The receiving end clips into the flash hot-shoe on the camera (XSI) and stays put pretty well. As long as I can remember to keep the remote in my pocket and not lose/drop it, I think I'll be good.

And on a more lighting related note I just order a Fenix TK30 and Quark mini 123 hoping they get here tomorrow

Good enough to lone out & purposely forget about. I wouldn't use it in my garage. The build quality is okay but the beam strength is not up to my standards.

I was thinking it'd be better for personal use only, and probably NOT for lending out to people.

I'll agree though, the beam strength appears to be pretty crummy. It's almost like it sucks in more than it puts out. The casing seems to be relatively weak too, simple plastic with no machined aluminum housing. Its rather bulky too.

I have a box of crap to give to people who don't want to bring their own stuff including dollar-store headlamps that actually aren't that bad.

How long are those supposed to be taking now anyway? Seems like they're taking their sweet time.

I'm thinking of tearing down one of my Huntlight FT-01PJs and building it in to a reading light for my bed, complete with an AC adapter. I shall ponder this potential project.

I think it's anyone's guess. The various models are in the 4Sevens 2010 catalogue, so you'd hope they'll be out before the end of the year!

Some are speculating that they're holding off for the release of Cree's answer to the SST 50 and 90 emitters, like they did when they brought out the last round of Quarks - that would be interesting!
