Ummm, this is the same bullshit argument that islamists use. That you can't appreciate the intention of their holy books unless you read them in the original language. And it's bullshit there too.

Actually, I don't think it is BS. Things get lost in translation all the time, and I think the Muslims' belief that the Koran can only be understood in the original Arabic isn't that far off the mark. As an example, there's a passage in the Bible that reads something like it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a man to get into heaven. The camel/eye things has been the subject of debate for probably centuries. I've read that it's a mistranslation from the original Aramaic, and actually referenced a gate or arch somewhere.

Words have meanings. They have books full of meanings for words called dictionaries. If you're saying the words don't mean what they mean unless you can read AND believe in god then you have rendered your own arguments moot because that would imply that they could mean anything.

It's really a logical fallacy: You have to believe something is true in order to understand it. Not assume it's true; believe it's true.

I know we don't agree on much... OK, everything, but I'll always be the loyal opposition.

Ha, true. Either way, you're appreciated by me, especially since you act your age, unlike some people around here.

i wrote a lot. but i will now summise and save space.

christianity is a plague. the evidence to support it is none existent.

our world is ruled by governments and money that are entwined with it and its power is no different to being a government of its own.

i cherish my freedom of mind, will, thought and sleep ( so don't knock on my door at 8am talking god or i will release my dog )

christian girls have always been the dirtiest in bed. so thankyou for something.

evil has a name. it drinks the blood of its leader every sunday, denies you freedom, bathes you in guilt and feeds you hope in the guise of an afterlife.

may it be swept into the dustbin of history, its followers released from its grip like an addiction and people harden the fuck up and just be realistic for once.

go watch " religulous " most of it is available on youtube or just get the movie out. made me laugh.
