RIP grand prix

my 97 grand prix is now sitting in the driveway awaiting its date with the tow truck. This morning i found her sitting in a pile of antifreeze. after investigation i found its the back head gasket. Age, combined with multiple other minor issues have come together and helped me make my descision to retire her. A little history, when my dad passed in 07 i inherited this car, he died at the wheel of this car so its got a certain sentimental attachment. Anyways, on to shop for a new 3.8

the biggest bitch is she runs great, what i think happens is it runs great, and according to the guages it didnt run hot, my feeling is, back in 98 when my aunt had the car (my father bought my aunts lease return) the dealer tossed stop leak in the engine cus it had a leak. Anyways, i think it blocked a passage in the head, causing just the head to over heat. The 3.8 is a hard engine to hurt but...

but ive come to the descision to not fix because of all the 'little' problems adding up. no ac, no heater (massive vaccuum leak under the dash), annoying "incorrect purge flow" code all the time, cataracts on the headlights, rotten passenger side rocker panel, loose in the transmission amoungst other things.

ill hold on to it till i got a replacement for her. since she has brand new shocks and springs. If i get a pre 04 one they are comming off lol. and i sure as hell am not sending it to the retirement yard with new tires either!

I would run her till she wouldn't run no more. I'm bad about getting attached to metal objects.

I like the 3.8 II a lot. I used to have a Lesabre and my neighbor just got a Buick Century with the 3.8 I for $350.

Don't worry... I couldn't say it with a straight face. I'm sure couldn't either when you recommended a Chevyrolet.
