I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics. Let's have a meet for the three of us so I can smite you both. Just not on the sabbath, or I would have to smite myself too. Is smiting people on the sabbath considered work?

I could give you a good reason, or some biblical references, but I suggest you just take it on "faith" that you are despicable and allow me to throw you into a lake of fire.

I think smiting falls into the category of emergency/essential activities, like wiping your ass. (You can wipe your ass on the sabbath, can't you? For me, it is most definitely work!)

since i don't have the patience to read all the bickering back and forth i will put my two cents in. I dont believe in evolution. I do believe in adaptation. I dont subscribe to the big band theory. I do believe that God created the world and its inhabitants. The reason being is that you cant build something with nothing. The only way to explain it is that there is some outside force that willed it to be done. the big bang theory is too easy to disprove. just ask, "where did xyz come from?" that something had to come from something else. that being said, if theory of evolution or the big bang theory end up becoming law, i will gladly eat my words.

But, you ARE claiming to know where all lifeforms began.

On the other hand, scientists have faith that we can make models that explain existing facts. We will never know all of the facts, or have perfect models, so we will never have the luxury of the certainty of knowledge that some religious people have, but putting it all together to try to make sense of the universe is a mindful worship.

Logical fallacy known as special pleading.

There is no good reason to believe this. No how much you want it to, just wanting does not make it true or even reasonable.

Fail.

First of all I would like you to know that I can't stand you. You are arrogant and condescending to anyone who has a different opinion than yours. I do value your opinion, but I don't respect you. If you thought the universe was created through a leprechaun anal fisting gang bang, it wouldn't matter to me because you are just as entitled to that thought/belief as I am to mine. It is by no means a "fail" like you seem to think. Secondly, I never said this is 100% fact or the only way could be. I said this my belief, just like you believe in the big bang theory. I have yet to see or hear any evidence to make me change my mind. I feel like this world is too precise to just be some sort of cosmic coincidence. I feel like there is a grand designer in all this. Perhaps if you were more respectful and tolerant of other peoples beliefs, people would listen to you more, then perhaps you could change some peoples minds.

I never said this is how it is. I said its the thing that makes sense to me. Having a grand designer makes more sense then building something out of nothing. I believe how the universe was created is something that we can never know or understand. I see no way of ever replicating it on earth. As I said before, if we are able to figure it out, with 90% or more certainty, then I will gladly subscribe to it. But as of now, I still believe in Intelligent Design.

And why wouldn't the most Intelligent Design include the Big Bang, evolution, and every other evidence driven theory that science has discovered? Is it so unbelievable that God would make a universe that made some kind of sense? Is it that you think it would have been to hard for God to somehow do that? Do you believe in Gravity? Or is God holding your ankles to the ground and Einstein is just a nutcase?

I believe in gravity. Im not an idiot. I used the term intelligent design bc thats the closest thing to how i believe things were done. I believe in god. But i also believe we are gods ant farm. god put it together and then walked off. I don't believe in evolution. I believe in adaptation. I don't know how god created the world. It could be the big bang theory. god made space dust and heat and bam here we go. or god couldve taken a shit and here we are. there is also very little evidence to really support the things you mentioned. they are still theories and not scientific law. when something becomes law, you would have to be an imbecile to not believe it or learn it. also newton came up with law of gravity not einstein.

Newtonian Physics are still in use for determining basic functions though. Not as precise, but a whole lot easier.

I believe that the entire known universe floats suspended in a thin silver bowl that rests atop a thin acacia tree that grows from the back a blue green Tortuga whose feet rest firmly on seven craggy mountains above a vast a fetid plain of dust that rests on top a giant blood red ox with fifty eyes that breathes fire the color of the midnight sky and whose hooves are firmly placed on a single grain of dust that floats endlessly in the eye of bahamut.

As long as your model reliably explains observations and provides accurate predictions, it's doesn't sound very different from quantum theory.

Argument from incredulity. Your lack of imagination limits your understanding of the universe and your willingness to explore.

Assumption of agency is very arrogant, and the appearance of design is perfectly consistent with natural selection.

No. I fully promote converstaional intolerance. There is nothing to justify, nor is there any profit in respecting unreasonable ideas.

The only way that rational inquiry can move ahead is to get past the special pleading that society allows for religious beliefs and to start to demand a higher standard of evidence for all of our beliefs and intellectual honesty in our interactions.

You might find more respect if you could demonstrate any good reasons to believe the things that you publicly say.

You should begin to expect that, as science continues to dissolve unreason and our knowledge grows, that you ideas will be questioned.

Argument from incredulity. There may be things that we can never understand, but that does not mean that everything we don't yet know is unknowable.

Religion has had to constantly change it's teachings as our knowledge expands and contradicts those beliefs.

Science learns more everyday and christianity is still stuck in the first century with nothing to offer.

There is no more reason to believe this than there is to believe a sky god, that kills his own kid, created us and cares what we do with our penises.
