Yeah, China was a shocker. USA didn't really shock me, we love our trucks. But I was really shocked with Canada. For some reason I thought a GM product would be tops. Not dick waving but I know GM builds a bit there. Or Mazda (but that thinking is from my MX-3 days, God I miss that car.

Yeah, there is a lot of GM crap here, although I notice a lot less of it in larger cities. Mostly Toyota there.

Doesnt surprise me, Hyundai has really come a long way with their cars, theyre modern and up to date and have very nice and quality interiors. The veracruz I drive from time to time is awesome, I love it.

I want my '87 Pony back.

I noticed a Veracruz for the first time the other day... I can't decide how I feel about its styling, but it's definitely unique.

To someone who lives outside of the US, this all looks normal, and the biggest shock is the way the US is hanging onto trucks as daily transport, and trucks based on concepts from the 1950s too...

No wonder the US auto industry is on its last gasps if the market place does not have the drive to move into the modern age. Neko.

Either there is some serious animal cruelty going on in here, or Pony is a name for a car.

We have a use for trucks, and can afford them. I would like to see us embrace the small diesel more myself and more diesels in light duty trucks. People always seem to forget we have a very LARGE country and we travel a LOT. We are pretty much 50/50 when it comes to rural and urban living.

You never got them in the US, Canada was a test market.

Discarded Toyota body design, with a Mitsubishi Industrial forklift engine.

edit: and rear wheel drive, with leaf springs.

Manual choke. Manual "winter/summer" intake air preheater.

It was one of those REALLY awful cars you couldn't really kill. I rolled mine, and drove it for a few months after.

I know of one in the US...it has California plates even!

And I've worked on a Mitsubishi forklift engine....I think Nismo could design a better engine...

Rear section of a Lancia Delta 4-door + cowl of a Corolla = that abomination. Was it related to the Excel?

Not even. If you saw a Delta/Pony side by side you'd realize the Delta was designed at least using a ruler.

No relation at all, aside from the Excel being the car that replaced it here in '87 or '88. (With a frontwards hinged hood!!)

Posted by jeepdaveWe are pretty much 50/50 when it comes to rural and urban living.

If true, that makes truck use nearly legit then for 50% of the population. But, something needs to happen to the truck drivers in the cities though...

Then, if those that actually needed trucks started to buy those diesels you mention or something more appropriate than an F-series (of which I might add I used to drive both Gen Six F-100 and F-250 for work purposes), we're on the way to keeping up with the rest of the civilized world... Neko.

i tend to look at ponys when i see them with a lot of fondness, they wear their battlescars like badges of honor. There was somthing endearing in the simplicity and cheapness of those cars! i remember when the hyundai dealer in my town got the all new second model the stellar and who can forget the quebec built sonata
