Thanks for that
Good to know.
I'm tempted by manual Eurovans whenever they show up cheap, but parts and working on them are problem areas for most people. The first year imported, 1992 is supposed to be quite unreliable.
The VR6 Syncro would be amazing if the reliability is there. Steyr Puch (Austria) made the earlier Vanagon Syncro system, amazing traction and good clearance off road. The Eurovan has no clearance, but maybe could be raised.
The space in a Eurovan to me is the perfect balance between a domestic full size van and a minivan. Tons of space and height.
Ford Aerostars have ended up being quite reliable with the famous 3.0. Windstars are the most unreliable minivan ever made.
Mazda MPV's had head problems with the V6 and famous for expensive parts. Biggest auto fail I made was to buy a '91 MPV as a fixer upper. The rare 4cyl 5 speed was a lot better. They had good driver comfort, layout etc. but the column auto shift linkage also sucked. Was like a golf club in a bucket of grease.
Maybe the newer FWD Mazdas are better. I wouldn't mind a Caravan '94 to 2000, if the price was low. Reliability is a crapshoot though. There's a '98 Grand at the corner garage. They are waiting for a a computer for it. I asked if they wanted to sell it, but fortunately it's a customers and not for sale
