Ontario Renissance Fair -- Old Site

Now that the Ontario renaissance Fair has moved to the RBG in Hamilton, they nicely left their old location to rot on 8th line. So Xanthus and myself, on the first mission of the Urban Explorers of Sheridan (UEoS) went and explored the place. There's still plenty to see, so if you want to go see it, I suggest you do so. If you need specifics, PM me.

Here's some of the better shots I got.

Is that the place just north of Kelso, or am I thinking of something else? PM an address if you don't want to post it here, thanks.

BTW, let me know if you want any other suggestions for the Milton area, I know of a few potential places out there.

yep.

Thou are gallant sirs! Tis a fine thing to be seen this jousting and sword fighting! But to the victor go what spoils?
Thou whilst need a fair maiden to cheer thine on in thy battles whilst one not?
Who shall it be?!

He is the Mud Pit still there from the MUD SHOW?? I loved that place when it was open!

The real trouble with reality is that there’s no background music.

I am afraid not. I am not flexible enough to be on Roxanne's stage, but thanks for saying that someone out there looks like me and you took notice

Sirs and madams, 'tis my duty to inform you of the state of the Mudpit, and t'other stages of the faire. The pit remains, though the mud is long dry, and overgrown with weeds. All other stages have been removed, including that of the Men in Tights.

The jousting arena is no more than a muddy field where ponies of metal and rubber run (there's signs up saying "No Trespassing, No ATV vehicles"). Many of the towers are in the midst of decay and destruction, as the owners make ready to prepare the land, possibly for resale.
But the walls are gone, the curtains dropped, and the areas of the knights, ladies, and village idiot are accessible by all.

A word of caution, lords and ladies, there are elves about in this former land of merriment. The trolls of Trillingham continue to reduce the towers to rubble, and they may be wand'ring about whilst thou dost attempt to enter their labrynth. (The offices are to the left of the main gate. They're still in use, apparently.)

Oh, and should thou wish to view this site, attempt it on this final weekend of the Royal Abingdon Faire, as the Trillingham site will most likely be vacant of all employees and landowners.

It is my soul that calls upon my name: How silver-sweet sound lovers' tongues by night, Like softest music to attending ears!

Alas; Romance comes to beccon within these Digital walls, Doth thou find a happy glee amungst such ornate words? Or to find happyness in ones own wit of anothers reflection. nay, nay, it is but true foundness of silver wit that beakens thine own hart.

*giggles*....tho portrait doth be barely acceptable as it was taken nowhere near the mud pit...alas it does bring ye old word's of William Wordsworth to mind...

She was a phantom of delight
When first she gleamed upon my sight;
A lovely Apparition, sent
To be a moment's ornament;
Her eyes as stars of Twilight fair;
Like Twilight's, too, her dusky hair;
But all things else about her drawn
From May-time and the cheerful Dawn;
A dancing Shape, an Image gay,
To haunt, to startle, and way-lay.

I saw her upon a nearer view,
A Spirit, yet a Woman too!
Her household motions light and free,
And steps of virgin liberty;
A countenance in which did meet
Sweet records, promises as sweet;
A Creature not too bright or good
For human nature's daily food;
For transient sorrows, simple wiles,
Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears and smiles.

And now I see with eye serene
The very pulse of the machine;
A Being breathing thoughtful breath,
A Traveler between life and death;
The reason firm, the temperate will,
Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill;
A perfect Woman, nobly planned,
To warm, to comfort, and command;
And yet a Spirit still, and bright,
With something of angelic light.

The problem with the world is dumb people. I'm not advocating capital punishment for dumb people. I'm just suggesting we remove all the warning labels and let the problem solve itself.

Gentle sirs! Thou dost flatter me greatly. Such beauteous words spoken makes one blush with the joy that chivalry is not yet forgotten in these times.
