The big metal cylinder in the background is VERY familiar, it's used to flatten down the tops of rows after planitng. To what end I never asked. I suspect it's to tamp the dirt down so rain doesn't wash it away. My father has one that is identical. He still uses it and it's older than me. The rusty junk in between the two, I've no idea.
