Yes, chances are when you leave the mainstream media matrix, you'll find some opinions and ideas that make you uncomfortable and tick certain boxes they have given you ("pro-Putin", "antivax", "conspiracy theorist", etc.). Dig a little bit more, and you might find that these boxes were actually created by people with a vested interested in shutting down certain kinds of dissent -- the classic example being the CIA's introduction of the term "conspiracy theorist" in the 1960s to try to discredit people who criticized their criminal antics around the world (Oh sorry, is this a "conspiracy theory"? Nope; documented fact). So yes, some of these places may be rabbit holes to various kinds of wrong-thinking, and if this scares you then I guess you can just keep watching CNN and believing what they tell you--at least until events on the ground make that impossible, at which point you can try to memory-hole the whole thing (see Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.).
| You seem to think in binary. American aggression or Russian aggression, CNN or TASS, mainstream idiocy or conspiracy theorists. This is the result of the rotting of critical thinking, which has been focused on the US but bleeding out into the rest of the world. And you haven't given us any explanation for why you think we are on the wrong side of this conflict, or that we'll be better off if Russia expands its foothold and turns Ukraine into its own version of Xinjiang.

| | | Earlier in the thread, Steed asked me if any of my sources had called for the annihilation of the Ukrainian people, and I responded: Posted by Shaddo No I can't, because they wouldn't say something like that. And Putin himself has never said he wants to "annihilate the Ukrainian people", so I'm not sure what the point of this question is. Although it wouldn't be hard to find quotes of Slava Ukrainians calling for the annihilation of the Russian people, because there is a clear fascistic and genocidal element to that regime.
| And now someone has provided us with an example from right here in this community: Posted by Emperor Wang I look forward to the day that the entirety of Russia is a wasteland, and every single Russian cunt that ever supported this war is dead. Slava Ukraini.
| Seems a little over the top, no? Why do Russians trigger this kind of psychotic rhetoric from some Westerners? Say that about anyone else, and you'd be rightly called a genocidal fascist; do we make an exception for Russians?
