Why 802.11b? 802.11g is faster.
Pros of 802.11g:
- Faster speeds
- Supports more simultaneous users
- Best signal range (not easily obstructed)
Cons of 802.11g:
- Costs more
- Some change of interference by appliances on an unregulated frequency.
Besides, wired networking (compared with wireless networking) is superior:
Pros of Wired:
- Faster (maximum speed is 1000mbps)
- Secure (no signals travelling through the air, only through cables)
- Reliable (wired connections are not affected by interference and fluctuations in avalible bandwith)
Pros of Wireless:
- Cost effective (no need to buy 500ft of cat5)
- No wires (as touched upon above)
- Portable and flexible (no wires to move)
