| | | Posted by fedge Currently in the Greater Toronto Area the price for regular unleaded: $1.21 per litre (or the equivalent of $4.54 per gallon). Will high gas prices affect your UE-ing? You bet it will!
| I composed a long post and reread your original post for the 10th time and realized you had said $4.54 per gallon, which is about $4.49 US at today's exchange rate, so that REALLY sucks. In Louisiana, we're priced at about $3.45/gallon today for regular unleaded and right around $4.00 for diesel. We don't have an option for that new Ethanol (E85?) blend, so I don't know what that would cost. The high gas prices affect everything...I don't go anywhere I don't absolutely have to. Just 15 years ago, when I was a teenager and gas was 79 cents a gallon, I'd get in the car and explore New Orleans and the surrounding area, which led to me getting out of the car and exploring other things. It was nothing for me to put 40,000 miles a year on my car. I've traveled clear across the U.S. and to Canada in gas guzzling V8's and not thought twice about how much (how little) I was spending on gas. Now, I just stay home when I'm not at work because I can't afford the extra gas. I also used to travel exclusively by car, but now it's cheaper to fly. You don't get to see the country (in much detail) when you fly.

| | | Posted by Shael Stalled my fat white ass. We're in a recession, if they'd all stop sugarcoating it and actually face up to the facts, we'd be a lot better off. Gas prices are just the beginning. I'm sure everybody's heard the saying, "Give me control of a country's money and I care not who makes the laws." This is what's happening. Inflation is sky rocketing because some idiot on Capitol hill doesn't know when to shut off the printing press. The worst part, I don't know if we'll ever recover from this mess. I just wonder if this is the beginning of the end of life as we know it. Shael
| I hesitate to go that far. We are in deed in a recession, but it is no worse than the late 90s ot what happened in the 70s. Banks are not collapsing in on themselves yet like they did in the thirties(and heck, we recovered from that). I think we will recover, it will be a tough few years but in the long run we will pull out only to go back in a few years later.
