Well hello there folks, had the Cobalt up on the lift today. The catalytic converter is definitely broken. Shockload went somewhere and it broke the innards of the converter. So... I called my tame GM parts connection. My cost was $403US with a $80 core (which i don't get charged because the work usually gets done at the dealership). (list was $480 normal price with the same core charge). So as I am filling the engine with oil, I ask John (my brother used to work for him for almost 10 years and is still a friend of the family) about my options. I told him i couldn't find an aftermarket pipe for it. He hooked me up with an outfit on Long Island that had the item in stock for $315. SOLD!

i should have it changed next week.
gives a whole new credibility to "temper temper!"

I love that kind of pricing....I paid 80.00 for a brand new cat for my XJ.

and how long was your Jeep in production?
this is a car that was built in small numbers for three model years. It's not really an item that is supposed to break.

Well, your platform has been around for a while, right?

I'm sure a lot more XJ cats get torn off and maimed on rocks than Cobalts, given the nature of the vehicle.

the platform, yes. the model, no.
the supercharged delta platform was introduced in 2004 with the Saturn Ion Redline. In 2005, the Cobalt SS/SC was introduced. Oddly enough, there was no G5/Pursuit supercharged variant.
the supercharged Cobalt was only manufactured in model years 05,06 and 07. In 08, a watered down 2.4L was offered as just an SS. It had 17" wheels and was available in automatic transmission, something the supercharged cars were not.
