I don't have much experience exploring industrial locations, however I think this one will always remain one of my favorite ones. Although I have been there a number of times I have yet to see the interior of the place in its entirety. The last time we went (about 1.5 months ago), the basement was being pumped out and unfortunately we have not had time to go back since. Hopefully over the holidays we will be able to co-ordinate some time to go. If anyone is up for going, let me know

Here are some pictures from all of my visits combined:

I have to say Firestone is awesome I've been at leats 7-8 times and there is always something new to see, even if the light is just slightly different. I will get off my butt and do my write up for it next...Good times.

Firestone is a great place. Always a new place to see, and now with the basement available there's even more.

Great shots!

The first basement level was pumped out, but as of yesterday, has a few inches of water on the floor again. Boots likely required, but still easily navigable by foot. The level of water hasn't yet risen higher than the first step on the staircases.

The basement of the Boiler House is still flooded. I guess this kills the theory of underground tunnels connecting the main plant and the Boiler House (unless there's a water-tight door between them).

Also, did anyone else notice that the large diesel engine has been removed from the Boiler House? (It was located under the staircase to the second level and engineering office.)

Go and find out. Its honestly one of the easiest places you could do. Make it a weekend trip.

It's really no big deal in terms of security or access. Just take a wander over and walk around. Definitely just a fun, leisurely exploration as long as you stay away from the Rod Mill property. Serious business over there.

So we went back last night, and unfortunately the basement is still flooded. Some parts have also froze over, right up to the top of the stairwell. Nonetheless it was still a great explore of more of the interior, as in my previous visits I have spent most of my time outside on the roofs and silos. We also had a surprise visitor (raccoon) who followed us throughout the entire building, and was frighteningly brave enough to come within a couple feet of us without being scared off. Thankfully we did not get "attacked"!

Here are a few more pics, and the link to all of them including previous visits is on my initial post.
