A heads up that I read on another forum: Firestone is being demolished this summer. Security was also beefed up as a direct result of the recent popularity of the location and the demolition may actually be as of a result of that. (now that it's known that people frequent the site, it's cheaper to tear it all down than to secure it). Apparently Hamilton Public Works wants the land anyway.

Well MLG would be a kick ass place for a skating UE meet, however i dont think there is any ice in it. I'll have to start considering places in december. After all i said it would be annual.

oh and... getting back on topic. If/when they tear down firestone we should have a memorial on the property... tie flowers to the fences, put up pictures of us with firestone, ribbons, candles, etc. What a mind fuck that would be to them haha

I love the idea and will participate fully. Find out the date of the demolition, hold a candlelight vigil.

I can't really say I give that much of a crap about Firestone. I will return for some demo photos, but that's about it. It ain't the Lister Block or Lyric Theatre to me. Just a fun place full of metal and grime that I got to play around in for a few years, or take people to when there was nowhere else to go.

I asked a good friend of mine the other day about going here and he told me that they recently brought in another security guard for the construction going on in there.

I thought so. There were certain things hinting at this but I hadn't actually seen this guard with my eyes.

Way to go e-photog, way to go.

*EDIT, also. They reference Infiltration.org directly in the article. Goddammit. "breed of adventurers who seek thrills among structures and nooks off-limits or unseen in the urban landscape" Holy fucking hyperbole lady. What the fuck is so adventurous about of near middle age tubby nerds with tripods getting chest pains from walking up three flights of stairs. We're not doing parkoor in there (maybe you are G.U.) we're groaning as we get down on one knee to get a picture of a moldy shoe.

Get a fucking clue about what you are writing about lady.

THAT is the bad kind of journalism.

very, very bad.

goddammit I don't like being this angry in the morning!

Its not like everyone didn't know about Firestone, but it would be great if you those of you who did get a chance to speak about it journalists would be a little concerned with what they actually wrote then getting your photo published.
