| | | Posted by Steed I am in agreement with censoring stuff like this. Even if it's out in the open. Like how I agree with the president and Jack about trying to keep the president of IRK out of those terrorist hands, even if they were about to detonate a dirty bomb. <--spoiler alert for 24 fans If another site posted point-of-entry info to a site, it would still not be okay to post that on here. Even if that site was some shitrag like Vice or some bullshit.
|
My biggest beef with censoring names is that its impossible to know if the members in any given article are members on the site or not. Like you can post an article about a convicted pedophile and find out it's Pathwalker but should you have edited out the names in the article just in case it was a user on the forum? This is why I dislike censorship. It's fucking retarded.

Because vultures spray their urine on their legs, and the evaporation of the fluids enables cooling, while the uric acids in their waste kill the bacteria which accumulates on their feet and legs...? I have no idea.

I would venture that you refer to keeping the gawking hordes out of the sight of search engines.

| | | Because I made a documentary about UE (Urban Explorers: Into the Darkness/ www.urbanexplorersfilm.com), I will often get calls from the media folks when this kind of thing happens. Today was no exception. I just got off the phone with a reporter from Global TV wanting to know if I knew anyone in Toronto who would want to comment why they do UE. She said that if anyone wanted to do an interview, their identity could be concealed. It sounds like she is one of those reporters who is just trying to understand the lure of a sewer. Anyway...if anyone is the area wants talk about the virtues of UE, you should contact her directly. Her name is Lama Nicolas email: [email protected] Oh, and it's for the 6p news so if you are interested, you should contact her ASAP. BTW I am not vouching for her or the story, I am just passing along this request. ~Melody

| | | I got a call this morning as well ; P I passed it on to someone else, as I don't know a whole heck of a lot about the 'draining' aspect of UE (although I love both of their work)... j-> [last edit 4/7/2010 2:42 AM by Avatar-X - edited 1 times]

We've been asked for an on-camera interview at the gallery. And I might note that in July at galleryDK, we will be exhibiting the fantastic drainer photography of Jon Muldoon. Really excellent work, which some of you may be familiar with. [last edit 4/6/2010 7:20 PM by yokes - edited 1 times]

It makes sense that they'd invite people who specialize in photographing abandoned buildings to talk about the sewers of Toronto.

| | | To determine if they committed 'mischief' you have to look at the definition of mischief according to the Criminal Code. 430. (1) Every one commits mischief who wilfully (a) destroys or damages property; (b) renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective; (c) obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property; or (d) obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property. A did not apply. B did not apply. D did not apply. C... well it would be difficult to say that they obstructed or interrupted anyone's lawful use of a sewer. It would be difficult to say that they interfered with anyone's enjoyment of a sewer. The crutch of this case would depend on if they interrupted or interfered with the operation of a sewer. Since people are able to stand up in a sewer to clean them or test them, it should stand to reason that simply being inside of a sewer does not constitute mischief. A lawyer may be able to quash this or the persons may even speak to the Crown to have it reduced to a simple trespass. Edit: I can spell, really. I don't know if they were asking from an art perspective or from a UE perspective (the request didn't come through me). One doesn't need to participate in the activity to have an appreciation for it and to consider it "valid" or whatever (which we all do). Besides, this is going to be a 10 second sound bite. Shawn Micallef has never been in a drain (that I'm aware of) and is an excellent person to tout the positives draining (as he did earlier today on the radio). | | | I just think it's unfortunate that the people who actually have first-hand experience involving this subject matter either can't or won't talk to the press. It's a bit like having to watch hockey players talk about the merits of baseball. I'm sure you can understand where I'm coming from.
