| | | Put tires on Dad's old truck on wednesday... amazingly, the truck did not break in half on the lift, the studs did not break when we took the lugnuts off and we did not have to beat the wheels off the truck with a gigantic sledgehammer... all in all, the crispy old Ford behaved itself and is now rolling on new Hankook rubber all the way around... and the tires we took off of it were shot. I mean, i don't know how they didn't just fucking explode into steel-belted confetti driving the thing around town. the sidewalls were cracked around the rim, the rear tires the tread was starting to crack near the union with the sidewall and all four tires had cracking in the tread valleys... they had been on the pickup for over ten years. On top of that, figured out what the persistent clicking from the rotating mass was... the front wheel had so much weight on it, they were contacting the caliper every time they came around... so now, no more 'click click click' when I drive the thing. the frame, well, that has some corrosion issues that need to be addressed with mr welder and some fishplate. we'll attend to that in the coming weeks.
