nothing straw man about it. Fuel consumption is exactly that...fuel consumption. If it's excessive consumption based on engine size or based on distance travelled, by your argument it could be considered wasteful and irresponsible if there was an alternative, which there is.

I'm a skinny little individual single guy driving around a Hummer. No kids, no excess gear, nobody in the passenger seat for that matter. Alternatives ... plenty. a Smart Car...or scooter could suffice for my basic needs.

I got stuck behind a line of four of these assholes couldn't switch over to the right for a while because of semi trucks slowing down traffic a mile ahead on the mass pike ... I was forced to move over to the slow vehicle lane (only clear lane on the highway) speed up on the downhill and then switch over as soon as I had a clear shot to get past them.

Oregon State Police was cracking down on the asshats that were hypermileing in the left lame on the downhill side of the Cabbage Hill Switchback on I-84.

There is a way to do hypermileing safely, but most Prius users don't know how.

I use to come up behind them in the truck. Review mirror full of Freightliner grill and suddenly they quit worrying about their fuel mileage.
