I was baptized Roman Catholic to appease my grandparents. After that, I was raised Agnostic. Currently, I'm functioning on a religious train wreck whose makeup is shown below:

50% Agnostic.

25% Buddhist.

10% Judeo-Christian mess of beliefs.

10% Muslim, the Five Pillars part.

5% Catholic, and decreasing.

My religion is ME, I worship myself. My creator's were my parents. I love them and all, but to worship them? nope.

I am god, my own god, controller of my own destiny and I rule my own fate. Therefore I am a god.

I reject the idea of christianity, and the idea of mary and the immaculate conception. I reject the idea of jesus.

a rather interesting way to see things. Makes alot of sense. Thank you for this point of view. I never thought of it this way before. Although I may not be 100% with you on it, it does give me alot of comfort and make me feel more powerful. Something I really needed right now.

I was born and raised roman catholic. I hated it. While a few of them were kind and open minded, most were self righeous hypocrites. I ws froced to pray in school and was punished when I said something that was not in accordance to the religious rules.

After I abandoned that I dabled in otehr religions. none made me feel anywhere near fufiled spiritually.

Now I am agnostic and I am happy with that. I dont need to know. There are enough problems in the world for me to worry about, why waste my time worrying over gods. There is nothing I can do about them anyways.

I just live my life according to my own morals and try to do right by them. The hardest judge you will ever face is yourself.

Calling atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair colour.

It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics. He didn't specifically call atheism a religion, so you are debating something in your own head there.

But your simile is wrong. Calling atheism a religion is more like calling baldness a head-choice. Which it is.

I'm more or less Buddhist/taoist now, but I try not to involve deities in my philosophy or what I consider crazy bullshit as part of that.

I don't understand why anyone would subscribe to a religion that would cause them fear.

If you are truly concerned about hell, the confessional is a good place to take care of that ;)
