| | | Posted by bandi This recall is also affecting the Pontiac Vibe, still the best car GM never made.
| I might be buying one...we'll see. It fits what I need in a car, sadly. It all depends on what kind of a deal I can get. I don't like the gas pedal thing, but they also were recalled for brakes last year, because the suction intake manifold for the brakes on the car can become locked in extremely cold weather, severely decreasing braking ability, aka, the brakes can fail horribly. The one I'm looking at has already had that repair, I just hope they know about the gas pedal recall. What they're saying and what I'm reading indicates that the problem is overblown and Toyota and GM are just taking precautions. The reports of it happening are rare, but they're afraid of a panic since there's so many Toyotas on the road. Shael

| Yeah, it'll still stop, just power braking ability is reduced. Like most recalls, it's generally blown a bit out of proportion. I LOVE doing the recall though, as it pays .9 hours and I've got them down to about 5 minutes What they're saying and what I'm reading indicates that the problem is overblown and Toyota and GM are just taking precautions. A big issue with this is most Toyota owners wouldn't think enough to pop the car into neutral or turn the key off if the car was accelerating out of control. The one car was out of control for over 10 miles... like, come on! Why aren't people being educated on this crap when they learn how to drive? I've had several cars that have started accelerating on their own, and I've never smashed one up yet. It's easy... put it in neutral, and shut the damn engine off- bam, you're not dead. But yeah, I'm not so sure the mats are an issue either, allegedly a couple of the runaway cars it happened to didn't have floor mats. At least they don't have a new recall every week like err.... some manufacturers.

| Toyota usually doesn't have many recalls, which is probably why it is such big news. I think most drivers though aren't really sure what the little N means. I mentioned to a lady at work (Camry driver) that you can still stop without the car running. She looked at me like I was nuts.
