Dave, you are barking up the wrong tree with those words. Your logic fails because if you know Samaurai's upbringing you would know he comes from a Ford family. And last I checked Chevy was a GM brand.

why does this forum always end up in a domestic vs. import battle?
its feels like midnight on the streets with a bunch of 17 year old kids arguing about whos stock automatic 4 banger is faster.
this never goes anywhere, everyone says the same point in every thread basically.

haha....this will probably stir it up too but atleast it'll be a little different

Only Ford does that because they can't make world platform cars.

domestic automakers do not export to other countries because 1)they already have manufacturing points there or a brand that has been sold there and 2)the tariff situation has been slanted by the target country to keep imports out (in the case of both Japan and Korea).
Since you like picking on General Motors so much, GM does not really export to Europe because it already has brands there in the form of Opel, Vauxhall, Saab (well DID have Saab) and Isuzu. In Asia-Australia, there was Holden, Isuzu, Daewoo.. getting my drift? To get around unfavorable tariffs, GM import the Chevrolet Cavalier into Japan and sold it as a Toyota Cavalier (bet you didn't know that, did you?)

so shut your hole until you actually know what you're talking about.

One thing also to keep in mind is that the EPA, DOT, and a multitude of other government agencys keep domestics from building the 10x better euro models. Its not that the company is keeping them from us, its our own damned government. I thank you.

FMVSS/CMVSS and ECE regulations are now pretty much almost the same; it's usually in engine requirements that for some reason FMVSS/CMVSS prefers bigger engines.

Delta body=

Saturn/Opel/Vauxhall Astra
Chevrolet Cobalt
Pontiac G5
Chevrolet HHR
Saturn Sky
Pontiac Solstice

they are all on the same chassis.
The Astra was saddled with the smaller Euro-sourced 1.8L Ecotec. The rest received North American corporate engines from the LSJ 2.0L SC, the LNF 2.0L TC, the 2.4VVT, and the 2.2L L61.

Pontiac Vibe= Toyota Matrix
(under the auspices of NUMMI)
