That may not be a joke after all Skelly.

With this... http://autos.aol.c...-electric-strategy

They're retooling and reopening a transmission plant in Maryland to build the electric parts for the Chevy Volt.

I am aware

You do realize that General Motors still does not have enough positive cash flow to make said purchase right?

GM being the main sponsor of the Vancouver Olympics is kinda like when someone owes you a shitload of money, but goes out and buys themselves a new snowmobile.

Yes, and worse because this is one of the warmest low snow winters in years, so that snowmobile purchase = Triple Fail, lol.

Remember when Subaru was the official car of the U.S. Ski Team? The only other AWD car at the time was the AMC Eagle, also a good ground breaking car, ironically now AWD wagons and these crossover things are back in the game. Audi was next about ten years later, if I remember right.

Toyota will probably now have to go back to making 'Japanese quality' cars, which they became famous for, this may take a while. And even longer for their rep to be restored. That said, they made some good cars in North America, but damn, I want my old AWD Previa back, convert to diesel and I can be in Florida for about 107.50 in fuel.

Yeah I'd kill for some of the Toyota (and other imports) available overseas.

...like an all wheel drive Corsa diesel. (Basically a 4x4 Diesel Tercel)
or an EP-82 Starlet Turbo (Turbo AWD Tercel Hatchback)

And the VW Polo TDI. 88 mpg!

I think they made a huge mistake by NOT selling the HiLux in North America. I know the Chicken Tax is involved, but they could produce it at Toyota's plant in San Antonino.

the lawsuits will go nowhere because toyota has made an attempt to repair their cars in a reasonable amount of time.
the only thing that may be called into question was the time it took to diagnose the issue.

A couple months ago a older man ran down his wife backing into his driveway with his brand new Tundra. The police put the blame on the man and closed the case. They have now said it was not his fault, it was the truck, and I'm more than willing to bet he's going to chase Toyota down. I'm sure he's not the only one that this has happen to. I went by his house the other day, he's driving a Jeep now.

Posted by SamuraiHow many different earth tone shades can you have on one car? The Corolla 'S'? Like, what? Ground effects and a red "s" are going to make your Corolla unstodgy?

To be fair, the Corolla S drives quite a bit differently than a standard Corolla. Speaking from experience as the owner of a Corolla S (which I love and is a fun car to drive) who grew up driving a stock Corolla that my parents own (which, honestly, was a meh car).

But to each their own.

Agreed. The diesels sell well in full sized trucks, should be available in the smaller ones, at least have a gas version to start. I'd love one of those 88 mpg Polo's Bandi, but would move up to a Golf or Rabbit even if it 'only' got 78 mpg.

The 70's Toyota rear wheel drive Celica and SR5 Corrolas were good cars, weird how you almost never see them here any more, or any 70's Japanese. All rusted away.

My RWD 74 Datsun 710 1800 4spd manual was reliable and fast for what it was, an abusive relationship on my part, but it never let me down, other than a water pump, which is minor.
