Amazing shots, so beautiful but it pains to me view any pics of this place, honestly. I wanted to see so incredibly much more than my stay--but the girlfriend got really REALLY bad vibes here. The only place she's ever not liked.

I promised her I wouldn't even return alone. Bothered her that badly.

Anyway, I've got interior pics of storage, some random burnt place, and one housing section.

Storage

'Burn Ward' let's call it

A little house

Random exterior

By the way...

Still getting the hang of UER and a part of that is having a hell of a time telling which pics matter and which to not post. I'm intimately fond of all the pics I took of this place so we're lucky enough I didn't post all 100 :p

I wish to death I could go back there. But a promise is a promise and only moreso when you love them.

Great shots weirdling Any idea as to why she was weirded out about you going back there alone, aside from the feelings?? Granted, the hospital is the only creepy building.. everything else is strange, but not harmful at all. I've spent way too much time in there and i've never had a paranormal encounter ;)

goodness I need to get back there. hopefully heading back to New England for spring break. Maybe I can convince my boyfriend to make the drive from Fitchburg with me since I wont have my car one day so I can make another visit (and maybe he will actually go inside this time).

They were really, really bad feelings.

Most of my life I've found paranormal to be a word along with telekinesis and big foot...I wouldn't even believe it if I really did see it. Utter nonsense.

But the idea of paranormal is just so bastardized now're days by the idea that tables move and the like. Me, I've genuinely felt a complete lack of doubt that I was alone before [while alone]. I was shooting in a sanitarium once and thought 'don't wanna back into the guy behind me' while stepping back to get a better angle. Zero doubt that someone was there, might have talked to him had it lasted.

Suddenly I realized there was no one, and the fact that I thought this was a bit jarring but I got by fear free the entire time. But why a 100% failure of logic? Why about something so obvious? Honestly I believe in this case a patient was there, intangibly, just wondering what I was doing there.

Her experience in Belchertown didn't go so benevolently. She felt something extremely sick and hurt. It bothered her so much she doesn't want me to go back even on my own. And I promised despite the fact I see no harm in this. I know it'd be fine, but I don't wanna lie to her.

Ghosts? No, it's silly. But energy cannot be created or destroyed. Twice in ten major places, many of which held extreme suffering, have I been 'approached'. Doesn't bother me, but that thing in this school...it didn't treat her well at all.

I can understand that-- just curious to see if it was around one building or not. There's only one that bothers me, and if two had gone by there, that's probably where she ended up getting that feeling from. My roommate gets a similar feeling from the aforementioned bldg.

Weird that somebody else felt something negative at Belchertown. In all my years exploring - I've never had that feeling. But I did go into one building there and felt like I had to get the hell out of there. Don't know why, and I'm not into the paranormal either.

Also happened at a place I used to go to all the time (WSH - May she rest in peace). I did that place top to bottom many, many times; but one day I couldn't even go near the place. Just had this feeling of doom and dread.

Strange.

I've never felt anything, either -- but my roommate has. I promised him i would never go into that building.. he started getting sick/nauseus as he went towards it while we were walking around campus. Strange.

One of the girls I went with back in November actually ended up vomiting from the roof of a building there. I thought maybe it was just nerves cause she was new to UE but she swears it was a "presence". I went with her again a couple weeks later and she was fine in every other building, but she was adamant about not going near that building. I guess maybe certain people are more receptive to that kind of "energy". I got an uneasy feeling inside but I think it had more to do with fact that the building has some strange echos and drafts happening that cause some weird noises. Once I thought about what was actually causing the sounds I was hearing (in this case it was a really windy day) I felt fine.

I always found the Infirmary to be much creepier than the hospital. I've heard some freaky stuff in the Infirmary... Anyway, I have heard so many people say they have gotten bad vibes at all different buildings at BSS.

Hm- i guess it depends- what I call the hospital, others call the infirmary, and the other way around. is it the x shaped one, or the one with the ramp?

Yeah, I dunno which is the hospital or the infirmary. I've been looking for that green room though and haven't found it yet, great photo of it! Here's a few of my photos. Let me know what you think.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

These last few are in HDR...so to those of you who hate HDR stuff I wanna say, I get it but I think it can be cool if it's done right. I'm new to the program and I'm still learning how to make it subtle and not cartoony/crispy/radioactive looking. I totally appreciate any feedback on it...good or bad. Can't really hurt my feelings so don't be shy.

Also, totally off the subject and I know it's sort of dumb to bring this up now, but it's been kind of bugging me...How come in this thread it's been ok to mention the name of the place but in other threads I've read people get shit for that? Just wondering cause I'm a noob and trying to learn what's ok and what's not.

I'm almost certain the X shaped building is the infirmary. and I believe but not 100% sure that's where the green room is, I do remember that room though seeing as I almost got swarmed by an entire hive of bees there

Beautiful pics

The infirmary is, indeed, the building that kurtz mentioned

As for the name.. it's still usually not a good idea to tell it, but it seems no one really gives a huge shit about the place anymore, so they just say whatever. You get used to it after a while, especially if you like this place. Some will agree with you that it's cool, others will make fun of you for liking it. You'll notice that some explorers are more open than others, re: mentioning names. It's pretty divided.

Names are never a good idea. Use PM's. Two ways to learn this lesson MHO.

Nice pics Garatuchi! Re: the HDR..I'm liking that first picture better than any of the HDR. All pretty good tho...Welcome to the forums.

Wait, what is an infirmary--what does it mean?

Man, Belchertown must be a fucked up place, I thought it was just us. Me, I felt nothing. But she certainly didn't find the same fate.

Our vibes came from a housing unit--the one where it says KILL in massive letters on the wall. What are those, doctor's houses or wards for bed ridden patients? I'm thinking doctor housing, in which case I get the idea it may have been a very abusive doc there.

Liska..I'm drooling over those photos. That's not the building that my friend got sick in but I can see why it would make people nervous just by looking at your photos. If people don't give a shit about this place that's their problem. I have a personal connection to it and I can't really see ever getting sick of it. I really don't care if anyone makes fun of me...I still feel weird mentioning it by name. Maybe it's been seen and photographed a ton but the beauty of these places is that they're always changing.

OH! That would be why. I never touch those little white housing units, honestly, they're too dark and I use natural lighting to get most of my shots. They used to be employee housing for nurses and doctors, but then later turned into patient housing for patients who were able to take care of themselves. If you stick to the major buildings, with one exception (the one that weirds me out) the feelings should be mostly gone.

And abusive is in the eye of the beholder, too... people at the school really cared for their patients, but it's a matter of knowledge. Back then, everything was limited. What was cutting edge then, we think as abuse today. Be sure to keep that in mind (I only say this, since there is a documentary on the state school that I watched, re: talking to employees). A lot of the perceived bad feelings is (partly) the horrible reputation that goes around about treatment, etc. there.

Kurtz: thanks, you! ;) It is always going to be home sweet home.

Garu: You will also notice that, very rarely, do I ever refer to it by name, even on my flickr. I guess i'm still of the "don't give the name...." school. The building I posted is the infirmary - which doesn't give me any weird feelings, though I do wonder sometimes. It's the building kitty corner from it (between the infirmary and the theatre) that disturbs me greatly.

Good post Liska ! I hate seeing kids post about how every hospital is haunted because it was a torture chamber where patients were all inmates tortured to death. It's just make believe. The workers cared about their jobs, and before medications these patients had nowhere else to go (and still don't, they're just medicated).

The whole tortured souls BS is an urban legend. Lobotomies and shock treatments are still performed to this day in extreme cases where medication doesn't work. If I was a nut I wish I could live in a beautiful setting like Danvers and grow my own food and livestock, and if I was too nuts to be outside then I'd be too nuts to care lol
