Three years, not busted yet, though I can certainly claim apathy on the matter. I free-solo climb for the experience knowing that I might fall and be seriously hurt or killed. I UE for the experience, knowing that I may be caught, arrested and charged. We (should all) be adults who understand the risks of our actions and the consequences for failing in our operative methods. I appreciate the colorful sarcasm masquerading as feigned concern attempting to insult me however, well done! I am throughly insulted!

All of my gear consists of basic tools and climbing equipment, certain asses incapable of making it up a shaft or wall make vans drag worse. No offense, of course, I am sure you are in great physical condition chris. Cheers!

Are you saying I may possibly be too fat to fit in BSS? ..If so, I guess I should look into your services. So that all 120 pounds of me can navigate such tight spaces.

No I said, verbatim, "certain asses incapable of making it up a shaft or wall make vans drag worse. No offense, of course, I am sure you are in great physical condition chris. Cheers!" If read technically, it is purely complimentary, and not at all inferring that -you- are out of shape. A generalized statement implying that you are in great physical condition, nonetheless. I cannot be held accountable for whatever inference you made in regards to that statement.

Such a shame, all the cynicism and misguided attempts to humiliate others, really. It is unbefitting of a gentleman to besmirch others baselessly. Bygones?

While I'm not a free climber, and don't think it's a good idea to do so, realize one thing:
This climb is a vertical concrete slab about 20 ft high, there's nothing to hold, anchor to, smear on, etc.

Sorry, was just making a point about the "dangers of what we do".

Grappling hook? lol

Not sure I could figure out a way up or not, but the challenge of trying is always worth it.

I'm just so used to exploring on my own, I don't worry about other people coming with me, or waiting for them. Most places I explore, i go with someone once briefly, then when I feel safe i'm in and out of there on my own all the time

I went out exploring with a friend and her boyfriend today, he was taking us to an abandoned psych hospital that he claimed to be familiar with and promised to give us a tour. We got there and he explained that he couldn't risk getting a trespassing conviction because of some job in the legal profession he was hoping to get one day so he just walked us around the perimeter and then out. Whenever we touched something he'd also point out that we'd left fingerprints on it.
That's one reason that I prefer to go on my own.

Has anyone ever been in the building closest to the railroad tracks. I have been in the back part of it but there is no way to access the rest of the building through that portion, I have been in the basement and the only way up is via elevator that seems to be out of order. There is one board up door that has had the boards removed but still can't be opened, I hope someone can get this open. And if anyone does could you PM me? I really want to see inside that building.

Well if you want something done you have to do it yourself, I checked the building and found a access hatch open on the roof, I was so close yet so far away.

Nope, it's definitely not true. They've had development and reuse plans on the table since at least 2005, but there are no immediate plans to make any changes to the campus. BSS will probably be there still for a long time to come.

Good to hear, BSS is the place that really got me into UE. So many fun memories there, it will still be sad when the day does come though.

I get mocked relentlessly about this, but Belchertown is my favorite place. When I lived in Amherst, I'd go there every weekend because it was right down the road. It's a place that really means a lot to me, no matter how crappy or trashed or boring other people think it is, and I really don't want to see the day that it gets demolished. It'd be like losing a friend.

I really couldn't agree more. It is my favorite as well, and I really don't think anything could change that. No matter how many times I visit, there's always something I overlooked before. It's always an adventure there. I live about 2 and a half hours away and there's plenty closer (Plymouth County Hospital is literally 3 minutes away from me). There's just something about that place that draws me back time and time again

Hahaha yeah there'd be a lot things I wish I could like here on UER. Oh so last time I was at BSS (like 3 weeks ago) I was in that ugly modern building that doesn't fit in (I'm sure you know which one), and ironically like 20 mins after I was done in that building I was taking some pictures in the garages out back and as I was walking towards the auditorium and I looked over at the ugly building and sure enough some guy in a white pickup was sealing it up. lol one day that'll be my luck, getting stuck and sealed in.
