Went up to Belchertown today, actually. Most of the buildings are shut, locked, bricked, or boarded. However, the auditorium had a pried off board and i was able to get in. I wanted to basically finish up what i hadnt been able to see in my previous visit, so that meant the basketball court and the infirmary.

Suuuuuper wet in there today. Glad i had my respirator with me. On basement 3 there was a visible fog hanging below the basketball hoops.

I was solo, running my headlamp and two LED mags, but something started moving, so i trucked it out of the deep with the quickness. Had my 9" pry-bar with me, but figured i might as well get out anyway and see about the infirmary.

Infirmary was locked up tight. Couldnt find a way in despite walking the entire perimeter of the building. Metal doors and i pried off a boarded window cover, but the window itself was too small. Gave up for the day and came home, but got some decent pics.

AH! Was it you I ran into on your way out earlier today?

Maaaaaybe. Were you heading to the infirmary with a white hat on commenting on my truck whilst carrying a tripod?

If so... that would be me =). Name is Ehren. Good to meet you... again =).

Gotcha.

I've been through a number of times, but there are a few buildings that i had to finish photographing. The auditorium for one, specifically the basketball court. When i went in November it was just too slippery going down the stairs to the basement, so i had to put it off until better weather came in. Whatever water had been on the stairs froze, so it was like trying to make your way down a waterfall. I didnt want to break my neck.

I've also not been able to find the morgue if there is one. I'd have thought i'd see a corpse storage room with the metal wall sockets in the infirmary, but i havent been able to find it.

But anyway... i'm local. Manchester, CT. Been doing the stuff nearby, but looking for something a bit weirder. Did Holyland USA, Hearthstone Castle, and i'm working to get into Winsted Memorial Hospital.

Gotcha. Well, either way glad your pics turned out I haven't made my way over to CT yet, it's just so easier to hit up BSS when i'm craving

Well, if I can get the permissions for Winsted Memorial Hospital squared up, I'll let you know. As far as I know, it's been completely sealed since 1996. Unsure who the current land owners are, but I've been querying the town hall about it. I had been a patient there in the 80s when I shattered my elbow. Would like to get back in under legal circumstances and poke about.

Interesting... We were there last weekend and the we got in the first building on the left as you enter from the baseball field, the theater, engine/generator building, and the infirmary. We didn't try every building either.

I walked the entire grounds just to see what was open. I was only really looking to go into the Auditorium again to photograph the gymnasium and find the cold storage (which i didnt find). Lots of locked metal doors now that werent there in the fall.

The big building with the belltower was open, however it wasnt what i was looking for. The dormatory also had 2 open doors. One on the first and another on the second level, both propped open with cinder blocks. Also, two of the white outbuildings had the window boards pried off. But, again, i was looking for specific items.

Yup the dorm is what Geoff was talking about. Up the side ramp to the second floor was open. We looked at the out buildings but didn't think we'd be able to get in. We got into the auditorium by the side door as it was just ripped off the hinges and leaning there. Can you believe we went down to the basketball court without respirators? Teeheehee Was pretty wet down there when we went. Nice and cool from the sweltering humid heat outside though. The medical building was also surprisingly open.

If you wana explore together sometime, I'm only 20 minutes from Manchester, and I'm looking to explore more of our lovely state

I'll keep you in the loop, bud. Trying to find out if there's anything else local that can be crawled around that would be worth a trip. But i'll let you know.

Without commenting on specific buildings, people, please. If you see a door propped open or whatever, just take away whatever's propping it and let the door close. It'll still be open as most of the auto locking mechanisms have been removed, just not as obviously. BSS gets a lot of youngins who have no idea what theyre doing and like to destroy things. Thank you

Well... i dont generally close doors if they're propped, Liska. Reason being, i've had doors closed on me whilst inside a building, locking me in. I was in New Haven with a buddy and we got trapped inside an old building for the same reason. Someone came by and took the door clamp out. It was a fire door that had its handles removed, but the locking mechanism still functioned. We ended up having to go to the roof and climb down a fire escape that looked like it was coming apart.

I carry rubber door jams with me in my pack as well so if i go into a building and there is a closed door, i can prop it open.

You never know if people are inside, and for me personally, i probably wouldnt answer if someone was asking if there are people in the building.

Aw man, total suck on getting locked in!

I agree about other places, but 99.9% of the doors at BSS will allow you to open them from the inside, even if it's locked from the outside The problem is, some of the explorers wandering around the buildings leave the doors wide, wide (and I mean obviously wide open) after they're done exploring and even off campus with boards, pipes, or something of that sort. Police drive down the streets around (not in) campus often and i'd rather avoid any obviousness. That's just me tho~!

I went down to the Seaside Regional Center in Waterford and found a way in the other day. Only thing is too many people were around because of the ocean and nice weather. Would be worth a look. It's listed in the DB.

Same here. I found out how to get into NH State Hospital, and even though it is only 30 min away I just couldn't get myself out the door to go explore it at 8PM.
