I'd say that nature and fertility are closely linked. Yes, Wicca might not be strictly a nature religion, but I wouldn't say it is wrong to call it one. Fertility is a better description of it, though, I agree. What do you think of Ray Buckland's books?
| Buckland's... interesting. I'm not entirely sure that I'd apply the term "Wicca" to his Seax tradition, like he does, but he WAS initiated and did have access to the mysteries. I won't deny his right to call it Wicca, it just seems strange that the two have so little in common. His writings on Wicca in general, though, are pretty cool. I'm pretty much a purist, so I tend to look upon any non-initiate writing on Wicca as most likely a Fluffy, and don't believe everything even from the initiates.

| | | I was raised in a mixed Roman Catholic / agnostic atmosphere, but for the last 10 years, I've been a practicioner of Asatru, a Northern European religion that worships the Scandinavian / Germanic pantheon of gods and goddesses (Odin, Thor, Freya, etc), our ancestors, and the various land wights and spirits. Yep, I'm a heathen.

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt |
