I never understood the appeal of these, other than "I fell into a lot of money, I love cocaine and really don't have any taste whatsoever, but people will notice this."

uses a TH125/3T40E... $300 from a junkyard. Takes two hours to take the old one out and put the new one in. Take a weekend to convert the car to a manual shift (provided the donor car is right there).
by the sound of it, the transmission is spent. The items described plus the miles on the car support the theory. $800 is not a bad price for the car, but that's going to balloon when I trailer a Cavalier from ohio to new york.

That's cheap!!!

I had one of those. I think it would have shamed a Hummer in the snow. Plus, it's not douchey like a Hummer.

my friend MaryJane and her hubby had a fleet of these things. They had the two they drove to work (they're both retired now) and had four or five behind their garage to keep them going. Hers had 270,000 miles on it and was a manual shift. His had 194,000 miles on it and was an automatic.

tough. fucking. car.
BUT, they would corrode in a gentle rainshower.
kind of like a Fiat...

There must have been a year where they started galvanizing them better or something, because they either seem to be rotted to rat shit, or entirely rust free. Mine didn't have a speck of rust anywhere, and was far from well taken care of.

I'm sure Budda would have a thing or two to say about those.

Also...Avanti II right beside the Charger. Not a very common car.
