The first responders were company paid EMT's who will do whatever the company tells them. So, when the boss said don't cut the kid out, they told the local EMS first responders that they didn't need to cut the kid out because the mechanics could get it apart. Even though those fuckers were the ones that called the local emergency squad and told them that they needed extrication equipment before the boss even got there.

Oh f**k! Yeah, I get the warm and mushy picture now. Lovely! Just makes me want to gag!

as a postscript to the story, the guy ended up with 50 stitches in his hand. He got off lucky... that piece of machinery WILL fuck you up.

it's so typical of where we work... rather than fix the machinery so it runs properly, which would mean downtime and spending money, we bubblegum and bullshit it along so we can get more time more production out of things. After awhile, you get tired of trying to make shit work.

shit divided by shit is still shit, friends.

Great. Lovely bit of justice is to see one of the assholes in charge get himself stuck in the machine. Then we'll see how fast they'll get the machine fixed or replaced.

I work with this kid my age named John, who, to quote George Clooney, is "dumber than a bag of hammers".
This is the kid who cut a lamp cord while it was still plugged in.

We were carrying in a table, so the donation room door was propped open, I accidentally left it open for about 15 minutes after we were done, right after John had finished for the day. What happened next was pathetic.

Supervisor: John, can you close the door?
John: No, I'm done for the day.

It's not as if it requires a gargantuan amount of effort. He's a lazy fuckwit, is all.

Let's allow the 5'5 and 135lb girl put away a week's worth of rotors, calipers, quick-struts, etc. because everyone else is too fucking lazy to so much as put a single piece of stock away and she's been too busy running retail alone and helping out with commercial to put everything away after receiving it all. Meanwhile, some coworkers sit on stools in the isles of the warehouse between customers.

Can't wait to go back to school on Monday and not work full time anymore. It'll be interesting to see what kind of stock awaits me next Thursday. I've been putting stock away as I can for the last week, yet today I put away two skids of rotors, three skids of totes full of random parts, and then a ton of oil in the overstock area that could fill homes.

And customers are surprised when I carry a 3.5 ton garage set (jack stands and trolly jack) across the store for them....who needs a gym membership when you've got rotors?

I may be many things (an asshole, an opinionated bitch, short-tempered, judgmental, etc) but there are two things I am NOT:

1. A liar
2. A thief

Someone at work is pissed I called them out on their bullshit and helped the company catch them nearly-red-handed skimming. So they choose the mature route and run a smear campaign on me here.

Good news is, they've got no proof or witnesses I'm stealing. Bad news is, I have no proof or witnesses I'm NOT stealing. It's my word vs theirs. I have people who'll back me up, but this person is buddies with the CEO.

The thing I caught them on (skimming product)? Suddenly it's showing up again. So not only do I look like a petty liar, but I look like an asshole.

It may be time to abandon ship.

Nah, just stay where you are and keep your head down. You're both being watched for the moment. You stick to your convictions, this other person will stick to his/her bullshit and eventually hang him/herself.

I've seen it and been part of a similar situation. I've proved I'm not the liar, the lazy bitch or the thief, while the others who bad mouthed me are long fucking gone.

Just keep your head down, do your job to the best of your ability and go home at the end of the day in one piece. That's usually more than enough...that and pitch in when there's more work than bodies who know how to do it and eventually, the company will start looking to cut the dead wood.

I'm still where I am after 7 years, those who opposed me have been gone for more than four and I get what I want when I want it, so it does work out in the end.

And that is precisely what happened, Shael. Give a person enough rope, they'll hang themselves. In this case, the problem person went so far as to make their own rope and gallows.

Will elaborate further when I get home, but the short version is bitch done fucked up.

Will pare it down just to the basics, but:

-New woman comes in and immediately goes power-hungry
-Makes accusations both to my face and behind my back that I am stealing cash and product.
-Lies about having product, then when is called out, suddenly brings stuff over, albeit total shit.
-Tells me all money comes to her, insults secretary of company
-Goes toe-to-toe with one of my supervisors, insults him and company CEO (including insinuating that everyone in the company save for her is skimming cash or product), tries to play the nickel-and-dime game and it backfires
-Is combative with me

Fast forward to today. I turn in payroll sheet and secretary asks about money. I tell her what I was told and she is FURIOUS. Her, supervisor, and CEO's right hand man all recount stories of this woman bad-mouthing everyone and being full of shit sideways. Find out she's been spinning a web of lies. With everyone basically backing up my side of the story, boss demands a meeting happen tomorrow.

I go back to my warehouse, she comes in and starts demanding passwords for Paypal, Ebay, Craigslist, and email. I refuse all but Photobucket and CL (but still give her bogus passwords. I don't even have the password for Paypal.) She gets pissy and wants to use my computer. I tell her (in so many words) to get bent, no one touches my computer. She tries to tell me because it's company property, she can tell me what to do. I excuse myself for a phone call and then call the supervisor. He backs me up on my decision, and tells me that if she wants to make a stink, have her call the CEO. She does, gets bitchy with him (WRONG MOVE!), and whatever the jist of the conversation was (I was talking to a customer on the phone), she stormed out in a huff declaring "We're done here."

I found out later from another customer (a regular) she was trash-talking me TO THE CUSTOMER on Friday after I left. Classy bitch.

We'll see how the meeting goes tomorrow.

Ha ha...I would love to be a fly on the wall for that one. But, like I said, eventually they do hang themselves.

In my case, today one bitch learned not to tangle with me today, again.

Demanding help from me when she will not get help because she does nothing but try to make my life miserable by bitching all the time. I get no help when I'm doing her job and no help from her when I do my own job, so fuck her, the horse she rode in on and the dog that followed them both.

She knows better than to ask me.

Well the meeting certainly didn't go in the direction I expected it to go.

Don't ask me how, but somehow this woman is still (to my knowledge) involved with the company. I guess a ton of fake rage and indignation can go a long way. That and bringing along your associate (who's a long-time friend of the CEO) and your husband (who has fuck-all to do with this situation). It also helps when the boss has a private meeting with you and your two cronies before bringing in the rest of the players. Granted, they weren't kissing her ass the entire time, but there was a fair amount of throwing me under the bus.

Upon being called out for bringing me absolute shit (with my supervisor backing me up), she put on a spectacular show of being offended and upset, but that's all it was: an act. She claims to have spent $750 on a pile of trash: Moldy antique price guide books, a box of rusted woodworking hand tools, a crib mattress, a bin of old Xbox games, a busted-up wooden filing cabinet missing half the drawers, two small dented and rusted tool boxes, etc. The entire deliver totaled maybe $90 in value. The rest was pure trash.

There were more insinuations of me (or the supervisor...who is also the secretary for this and the other 20 branches of the company) stealing and skimming from the company. I defended myself and fought back against this woman as best as I could, but I have a feeling I went in with the deck stacked against me.

She wasn't in today or most of yesterday (other than the meeting), so maybe she really did give up, but we'll see. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop in the meanwhile. I'm hoping maybe my supervisors sat the boss down and talked a bit more sense into him. NO ONE likes this woman at the company other than the CEO. And of course, he gets the final say.

TL;DR: Meeting didn't exactly go in my favor, despite me doing my best to defend myself and having a trusted ally in there with me. Hoping boss has a change of heart and ousts this bitch.

So at work everyone in my position gets scheduled for 4 or 5-hour shifts all week. For me its not that bad since I live within walking distance, but still there are times when I'd rather just sleep in, watch TV, or do almost anything else. To me coming in for just 4 hours is sort of a waste of time.

Anyway, today one of my coworkers called in sick who was scheduled 10-2:00pm. Totally understandable, if I had something better going on, I'd of called in sick too. She actually FB messaged me the night before, and told me she was gonna call in sick. Since I was scheduled 8-12:00pm, that way I could have an excuse ready if they asked me to stay. So as expected my boss comes in at 11am and ask me, "can you stay and work 8hrs, so and so called in sick."

I say, "no I've got plans, I planned to be off at 12pm, and I've got people at home waiting for me to get back, we're going to the beach" - complete BS. I could've stayed but since I worked 4hr shifts all week that amounted to a total of 20hrs I figured fuck him.

Then he waxes on about how "we should all be more dependable." If you want people to be more dependable schedule them for 8-hours shifts! That way it's at least worth their time to come in. We've told them this so many times yet they still schedule everyone 5-6days a week with 4-hour shifts. That's what pissed me off!

I have no problem working, I always show up on time, and I never call in sick.

So when the boss says that, "I (we) should all be more dependable" its pretty lame. If I was scheduled for 8hour shifts and only worked 3 days a week I would've stayed no problem.

When you're working 4 hour shifts and have to come in for 5-6days a week its kind of BS when they expect you to stay (only cus its convenient) after screwing you over the entire week.

what i was getting at is if you hate only working 20 hrs a week, maybe you could find something a little more full time?
i have friends that work at a walmart and those evil bastards only give 37-39 hours a week so they don't have to offer benefits... they're always bitching about it to which I counter, 'find a new job maybe?'

Honestly I like working only 20hrs a week - plus its a union job so (unlike most places) I have health benefits.

My main tiff is I'd rather work 3 days vs. getting the same amount of hours stretched out over 5-6days. That would translate into having (4 days) vs. (1-2days) off.

Also if I'm working 5 or 6 days, and only getting 4 hours each day, why would I want to stay longer (only when its convenient)? One of the manager once asked me don't you need the money, to which I replied "nope." The only motivation to stay longer is a few extra bucks and in the grand scheme of things my time is more valuable than a few bucks.

Easier said than done.

I'd really prefer not to drive across and then all the way south in Toronto to make barely above min wage (after two years there!) at a job I really don't like. I've had a bunch of interviews that went well until the question of current employment comes up....seems no one wants you to be currently employed. That's where the interview drops. I've never had an issue finding employment until the last year. I've been shop foreman, I have a history of long-term employment (as far as people my age go....I did two years at Starbucks and only quit because I moved, was shop foreman at Ziebart for 1.5 years and then went back to school, etc...never quit just because.).

It's not as easy as it sounds. And in a lot of cases, it's just giving up one pile of shit for one of a different smell...especially at the retail/min wage level.

I was furious when they started giving me 5 hour shifts earlier in the year. In Toronto the 17km drive takes anywhere from 45 mins to an hour and a half, and when I'm in school that really limits the days I'm available...and ruins a lot of time to do shoots and homework if I'm spending the good part of the day working 5 hours at my horrible job 4-5 days a week. Thankfully when management changed I went back to real shifts for this semester, 3 days a week....26 hours.

*note: management handed over keys and credit cards a week and a half ago and walked out so the future is in the air at this point....
