| | | My cousin's daughter just graduated high school and received a full free ride to any school she wanted to go to. She just fucked herself today. She will most likely not be getting her money because she didn't show up at SUNY Plattsburgh this morning for orientation and registration. We tried so hard to impress on her that it was important to take any chance she could get. I know, she's 18, but damn it. Growing up, she had nothing, my sister and I did the shit for her that my grandmother and my cousin couldn't afford for her. We didn't spoil her, we only gave her a chance at seeing and doing things that she wouldn't have a chance to do otherwise because we could afford it, her father and my grandmother couldn't. We gave her a few things, but only the things she needed. Rarely did we buy anything she wanted, it was always something she needed. You'd think that because she didn't have shit growing up but the things my sister and I got for her, that maybe she'd have learned this not from us, but from her home situation. I want to slap the shit out of her.

I'm right there with you, sister. My house has central air, but it's so old and leaky that it doesn't get that cool. My car has no AC either. We will survive!
| Ah, I know the old leaky house thing well. That would be my parents house. They have central air, but between their attic and an unfinished room behind two of the bedrooms, it can get fairly uncomfortable upstairs. I'm not looking forward to our stay there this weekend, either. Maybe by then things will have cooled off a bit. I'm hoping to bug my boyfriend for a recharge on the AC if it's possible. If not, no huge deal as I only work 10 minute from home. In the meantime, I'm hanging out in our room as much as possible (only downside is my computer is in the living room) and contemplating sitting in our hot tub without the heat turned on, like a makeshift wading pool. At least our room is cool. I can't sleep in muggy weather. And in 4 months I'll probably be bitching about the snow and cold LOL!

| | | Its the 14 day hold, but the doctor just keeps renewing it , so its essentially indefinite. fuck, i'm not a lawyer, but it seems almost illegal. [provincial law shouldn't be able to over ride federal law like the charter of rights and freedom or the criminal code such forcible confinement] She attempted suicide; but it was substance induced psychosis from stimulant use...(during the unpleasant comedown from pharmaceutical dextroamphetamine) I think she needs some counselling for substance abuse, but that's usually not done by an involuntary hold. I'm just so fucking PISSED because I wear my uniform and have fought for what I thought where the essential freedoms, such as freedom of movement, association and expression, and now it seems like its a fucking elaborate lie thatched together with bullshit, and that these rights can be revoked by a simple administrative action by a hospital; without even the chance to defend your self that's accorded to persons charged with a crime. I'm sorry to hear about your experience and it just adds to my disgust and anger with the whole 'mental health' system.
