My cousin's daughter just graduated high school and received a full free ride to any school she wanted to go to.

She just fucked herself today.

She will most likely not be getting her money because she didn't show up at SUNY Plattsburgh this morning for orientation and registration.

We tried so hard to impress on her that it was important to take any chance she could get. I know, she's 18, but damn it. Growing up, she had nothing, my sister and I did the shit for her that my grandmother and my cousin couldn't afford for her. We didn't spoil her, we only gave her a chance at seeing and doing things that she wouldn't have a chance to do otherwise because we could afford it, her father and my grandmother couldn't. We gave her a few things, but only the things she needed. Rarely did we buy anything she wanted, it was always something she needed.

You'd think that because she didn't have shit growing up but the things my sister and I got for her, that maybe she'd have learned this not from us, but from her home situation.

I want to slap the shit out of her.

Yuppies. All these people who have the perfect family and perfect lives. It's all peachy keen and the biggest problem they have in thier life is someone visiting who SMOKES. You know what, I smoke. Deal with it. I am NOT going to take a shower and change clothes to hold your newborn, I do not have children and I like it that way. Go suck some hairy smelly left nut of the homeless man laying on the park bench down the street. Seriously people? Take your hybrid cars, organic food and do not push it on me. I will have a budweiser and a pack of marlboros and TRY not to invade the air YOUR breathing. My bad for doing something I wanna do.

I have been ultimately respectful. I usually smoke about or less a pack a day. I've smoked a pack throughout the last 4 days. I go outside, wear a sweatshirt, and take it off when i come in and when i do i wash my hands. I am not a chimney like you guys are thinking.

having people call me when I'm not working, to sort out their clusterfucks.

people that complain when I crack my neck/knuckles. Its just a barely audible sound that lasts all of two seconds. Its no big fucking deal, but it relieves my muscle tension, suck it the fuck up and bear with a whisper quiet noise for an instant you sheltered neurotic idiot.

This fucking heat is driving me bugshit.

Our house is like an oven, no central air. Just a window shaker in our room and paddle fans throughout the house. This would be ok if the attic vented.

Top it off, my car doesn't have working AC, the other car's AC is in bad need of a recharge, and where I work is a sweltering warehouse. The only option for keeping cool there is the office, but I can't stay in there all day when I have things to clean or sell.

And it's supposed to get hotter this week. Just fucking lovely.

I'm right there with you, sister. My house has central air, but it's so old and leaky that it doesn't get that cool. My car has no AC either.

We will survive!

Ah, I know the old leaky house thing well. That would be my parents house. They have central air, but between their attic and an unfinished room behind two of the bedrooms, it can get fairly uncomfortable upstairs. I'm not looking forward to our stay there this weekend, either. Maybe by then things will have cooled off a bit.

I'm hoping to bug my boyfriend for a recharge on the AC if it's possible. If not, no huge deal as I only work 10 minute from home.

In the meantime, I'm hanging out in our room as much as possible (only downside is my computer is in the living room) and contemplating sitting in our hot tub without the heat turned on, like a makeshift wading pool. At least our room is cool. I can't sleep in muggy weather.

And in 4 months I'll probably be bitching about the snow and cold LOL!

Yesterday my dog escaped. I went and picked him up and naturally he was soaking wet (he LOVES water and will go for a swim anywhere he can). First he jumped into my driver's seat, then proceeded to jump all over the rest of the seats, ensuring a wet dog stench for days. As I often do,I left my windows open last night. This morning there was a brief but wicked storm, hail and all. So now the entire interior is soaked, the wet dog smell now being the least of my problems. FML.

sounds like you have some shitty roommates. get a 2x4 of oak, mill the end into a nice handle and use the other end to knock some sense into them.. course the threat may also have the desired effect, I know it did on some of my old roommates.... or it might have been the .50 cal rifle hanging on my wall, not sure which.

A friend of mine has been detained without due process; and not even by a judge at that. (psychiatric hospital) and to make me more pissed off, whatever clod is in charge decided No visitors and no telephone...I want to be there for my friend, but some pasty dipshit in a suit decided 'no'

It seems oppressive and draconian, even by my skewed standards.

I want to throw up.

It sucks but it happens. How long is thier hold? Are we talking a 72 hour, a 5 day or a 14 day hold? Also, what are thier circumstances? Someone on these very forums has sent me on a five day hold to a terrible institution. I even got beat up by the cops when they broke into my house to "save me" from dying after taking 5(!) over the counter sleeping pills. If I was trying to kill myself that way (a really lame way to go) I would have taken a lot more of something a lot stronger. Most likely if I wanted to kill myself I'd jump of a tall building on fire, wearing a cape, being awesome.

View it as a valuable life lesson for your friend: don't trust anyone.

Also just be glad they aren't getting sent to a camp. those really really suck I hear. Like make-you-eat-your-own-vomit-or-get-beaten type suck. That also happens in this great land of ours for things like "looking weird in a rich neighborhood" and "looking weird in high school".

Its the 14 day hold, but the doctor just keeps renewing it , so its essentially indefinite. fuck, i'm not a lawyer, but it seems almost illegal. [provincial law shouldn't be able to over ride federal law like the charter of rights and freedom or the criminal code such forcible confinement]

She attempted suicide; but it was substance induced psychosis from stimulant use...(during the unpleasant comedown from pharmaceutical dextroamphetamine) I think she needs some counselling for substance abuse, but that's usually not done by an involuntary hold.

I'm just so fucking PISSED because I wear my uniform and have fought for what I thought where the essential freedoms, such as freedom of movement, association and expression, and now it seems like its a fucking elaborate lie thatched together with bullshit, and that these rights can be revoked by a simple administrative action by a hospital; without even the chance to defend your self that's accorded to persons charged with a crime.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience and it just adds to my disgust and anger with the whole 'mental health' system.

When your parents go out of town for two weeks to visit your brother in an "Entire family minus you" vacation in Georgia and virginia, leaving you to be the house boy and watch the dogs who are sick and refuse to piss anywhere but the floor, and come home and bitch you out constantly because the house is "trashed," giving no evidence besides the floor being dirty, and being out of paper towels.

I'm sorry I can't keep up with your piss factory of a Shih tzu and couldn't afford paper towels after i used them all cleaning up after the dog 4 times a day for 2 weeks. Fuck you, i'm never house sitting again.
