Buran, The Russian space shuttle. I was contemplating leaving this out all together as these are the sort of snaps any determined tourist could take. But what the heck. It was a different sort of exploration. Not everything I explore is off limits and hard to get to. | |
The
massive Industrial
Giant. I had known of the place before but never entered it due to
tight security. I snuck in to explore the massive complex, avoiding security
guards and workmen. It was well worth it, as the place is probably the
second best abandoned building I have explored after City
Power. It is certinly a lot bigger than City Power but less action
packed. I suppose if I had more time to explore it, I would have enjoyed
it more. Sadly the building is all but gone now. |

Rooftoping can be a quite rewarding experience. The views from the top are great, and there's usually quite a lot of machinery up there. Best to go on a sunny day. |
UA City Train and Tram tunnels. While venturing into the train tunnels is fraught with danger, it also comes with excitement. These three pages contain images of the tunnels and a virtual tour of the behinds the scenes areas of a still in use rail station. Train tunnels - Tram tunnels - Underground station virtual tour |
The result of a well planned expedition specifically to capture long exposure images of hell, these images feature some of the most amazing images I have taken underground. They also include photos of two of the largest underground spaces ever in UA City. |
The massive UA City College system has been thoroughly been explored by myself and others. On this expedition we took along two digital cameras and a video camera. Features about 80 photos of the system and video. |
Getting around in UA City's massive drain system is so much easier and quicker when you have wheels. I pioneered driving around in the deep underground drains of the city. With Video. |
Blaze of light - an awe inspiring night out climbing the 150 metre high towers of a newly installed motorway bridge of UA City's harbor provided for some spectacular images. Long and short exposure images of the city and harbor |
UA City has dozens of bunkers scattered around it, most on public land and publicly accessible. These pages provide a virtual tour of almost all of the City's best bunkers, with more coming soon. The pages are graphically intensive, but well worth taking a look at. |
Journey of the Orion. Just a few images from a working trip on an ocean going freight ship. Part of a 7 day ocean trip taken before I owned my digital camera. |
The Brickworks. UA City has no less than 5 brickworks, 4 of them are abandoned. They form playgrounds for explorers, kids, teenagers and even adults who race their cars around the abandoned factories. With spectacular gantries, huge sheds, massive kilns and trashed offices, they're great to explore. |
Mc Vay Memorial college, scene of a student brawl now is crumbling in urban decay. Once home to hundreds of eager students, it now is home to the occasional lost bird or homeless vagrant. This once proud college was the target for a few expeditions. |
City Power. Al old decaying power station in the center of the city. Loaded with asbestos and other nasties this place was still a hive of activity until the council took steps to block access. Some pictures of the massive dining hall and cinema. |
An opportunity to visit and explore a live space tracking station presented itself. Through some polite asking, I was allowed to wander some areas by myself. The place was amazing. Also later visited an eerie old abandoned space tracking station where all of the buildings had been razed to their foundations, but the trees left untouched. |
I was once invited to assist a friend of mine shunt a few carriages around UA City's rail network. Using a small shunter that had seen better days we rode the rails. I managed to do a bit of unconventional work in assisting my friend. Including riding on top of carriages, and hopping between moving carriages |
I started out as a drain explorer, hence the large number of drains featured on this site. Featuring about 100 drains from all over UA City, Urbana and Metropolis. Many fascinating pictures and stories. A must for the arm chair drainer. |
Though only a small page, the Port Side bridge and rail tunnel are very interesting to look at and explore. It was scary to explore the tunnel because we were expecting a train any second. |
The abandoned rail yard. I would have liked to spend more time in this vast rail yard, but I had only an hour or so. Still I produced some evocative images of rail travel in years gone by. |
The videos page features all of the videos on this web site - the college tunnel and drain driving ones. |
