Most of management barely speaks English Sam. You talk to them, what you're saying goes right over their heads.

For example...

There's this intermittent problem with the Oracle database backend software that our production recording software front end uses. Records created by the recording software and placed into the database occasionally get put into Oracle corrupted at creation. This corruption ends up crashing the whole software "suite" when there's an attempt to manipulate or change the record in any way by the recording software.

I explained at length to my boss what happened and what the IT department was trying to do to fix it...he just gave me a blank stare.

Or this...

Usually the first Saturday of the month is the backup and reboot/patch deployment of most of the servers for the company. No big deal...but every time, it causes the print server software that handles shipping labels to go batshit and stop printing labels all together. There are two servers, the primary and the backup. I usually call one of the techs and they swap it over for me.

The last time, I was ready to hack into the system myself and do the swap over because I couldn't make a new tech understand that I knew what I was talking about, that I knew exactly where the problem was and how to fix it.

Some people, just because you don't have a title or an office, don't want to listen to you, even when you're right. That's my biggest gripe about where I work. Otherwise, they leave me alone.

Copper thieves.

Twice they got us.

Asking someone to do something that is very simple and they screw it up.

Just this week, I asked one of the guys if he could make some photocopies of a blank form as this was the last one. He promptly fills out the form and hands it back to me. I suppressed an urge to scream and knock him across the room (this was about the fifth or sixth time he screwed up something simple) and asked him "Did I ask you to make some photocopies of this form?"

"Uh, yeah. You did. But I didn't understand what you meant by that." was his reply.

"If you didn't understand, then why didn't you ask me to explain?" was my reply.

"I figured you can explain after this was filled out.", was the guy's answer.

"Well, thank you. Did you hear me say that this was the last form we had?"

"Yeah, but I figured we had more."

It was all I could do at this point to not drag him up to the roof and throw him off just to see how much a person can splatter on concrete from 34 floors.

The next day, I found even more mistakes the guy did. The sad part was that he was not only told not to do them during training, but there was also notes and a section of the post orders that very clearly explained procedures.

Needless to say, a phone call to the office and the moron was removed. Argh!!!

People who call in sick to work then put something on their facebook status that they are out at the beach, at the game, moving, etc.

Warning: Don't put coworkers on your friends list. You don't know them that well - the workplace can be competitive and some WILL tell on you!

They may even take a screen shot of your status and email it to your manager lol.

(this didn't happen to me btw - I work in HR and have to deal with the mess)

I work in a hospital, and we had someone post pictures on FB of some poor person's amputated foot, clearly showing personal information like name, SSN, DOB, etc...

Needless to say, this employee is now up a shit creek without a paddle. They are facing jail time, hefty fines, etc...

I briefly dated a boy who worked at a porn store, and I visited him at work two or three times. Each time, someone would bring their kid in and he'd have to ask them to leave. "Dude, the fucking place is called '21 and Up Video', what do you expect?"

That's really sad. One time someone brought their kid in a cop happened to be there lol

When you boss gives you 10 days to complete a project then he stops by after 2 days and says "show me what you have so far". Then he tells you how its all wrong and not 'defined' as in he can not understand it. Well duh- its not complete and all that matters at this point is that I understand the data. The last thing I do when compiling a report is to polish it off after the contents are verified.

Come back in 8 days when its complete!

I hate when that happens at my work (vet hospital) with patients I have dealt with for a while (but usually they die from euthanasia). We had this one St Bernard that was in our hospital for weeks and finally because things were not getting better, euthanasia was the answer. Everyone gathered to see him being moved to a nice room to spend time with the owners and we all clapped for him and gave him love.

When you ask a simple question (like if we have a particular item) and the other person takes that as "oh ok I'll do your job for you and take your sale!" then they flip a shit at you when you tell them you were pissed about that. Even more frustrating when they keep doing this.

Someone who repeatedly disturbs you during your lunch and then when you disturb someone else during their lunch will then lecture you that it's ignorant to disturb someone while they are eating.

Two points I made to the person:

1) Why am I disturbed all the time during my lunch? Is it because I'm considered nothing more than a third class citizen?

2) I don't report to you. I report to the manager. Last thing I'll tolerate is a secretary (who is young enough to be my daughter) to lecture me on courtesy especially when she doesn't extend it herself.

Blah!

Hiring people who are so nice and awesome during the interview process, then finding out they are actually the freaks of the planet.

LOL I just got my results this morning. Monday, the phlebotomist missed the vein, she said my vein collapsed. I said isn't that something that happens to elderly people?? What is wrong with me? Turns out that I should have drank more water. Anyway, the results say my blood pressure is in the High Risk category. WTF?? Another depressing wellness assesement.
