| | | So this girl comes in to my store earlier and buys a penis extender. When she gets up to the counter to pay she actually reads aloud the sign to me that says, "NO RETURNS, NO EXCHANGES, NO EXCEPTIONS". I say yes, that's right. I had a feeling she didn't know exactly what she was buying, but the product clearly says what it is on the package. I shouldn't have to assume my customers are illiterate morons (which they apparently are) and I wanted the sale. An hour later her boyfriend calls the store. He wasn't even in the store when she bought it. He says she bought the wrong thing and wants to return it because she thought it was a dildo. I say no we don't take any returns or exchanges for hygiene reasons. He says they never opened the package and I calmly explain that the packages can be easily resealed and we want our customers to know that the product that they are buying is perfectly clean and has not been in anyone else's possession. I almost asked him to read what the package said back to me, ask him if his girlfriend can read, and explain that illiteracy is not a valid excuse to return anything, but I bit my tongue. He demands that I make an exception so I say he can have a discount on something else. This isn't good enough however. He bitches me out then with his face away from the phone tells his girlfriend that I'm annoying and not helpful. I can hear every word of this. So gets back on the phone and demands that I let him speak to a manager. I inform him that the manager will be in tomorrow morning. He says "fine I'll call them and I will exchange this damn thing then!" Little does he know, I called the manager after this conversation and told him about the ordeal and his nastiness. Oh, did I mention the manager is my boyfriend?

| | | So I have a new job, and I love it.... for the most part. The basics are I work in a warehouse filled with items and sell these online through Craigslist and/or eBay. I am for the most part my own boss and I have a couple of helpers who work under me. Theoretically, I answer to one main person, the head of the parent company (I'll call him "Don"). There are two other people who I can go to for minor supervisory things (money and general maintenance at the warehouse), but otherwise, I'm in charger. The biggest promise on getting this job was I would not, "have someone hovering over me all shift breathing down my neck". Lo and behold, what happened? Enter "Glen", a real nimrod who is now being an annoying buttinski. He's not my boss in any way, shape, or form, yet he keeps showing up at the warehouse to have "brainstorming pow-wows" and generally drive me nuts. I know he means well and he thinks he's helping, but what he's telling me what "Don" is telling me are two completely different things. This irritates me. One suggestion was for me to make spare keys for the warehouse for these temp helpers. Uh, no, because if they decide to help themselves to things, it's my ass on the hot seat. They don't NEED to be there when I'm not. Besides, only 3 people have keys there. Me, "Don", and a maintenance guy. It's frustrating.
