Next week will be 5 years I've worked for IP. Next week, my boss will come give me this stupid pin that commemorates 5 years of service with the company, take pictures and basically make a big deal out of something that's not really a huge deal. Well, for certain people it is. Other people, they don't give a shit about.

It's the longest I've been with any employer, I've not spent this long anywhere else. Usually by now, I'm done and gone because there's been some kind of disagreement or other issue.

For me, the only issue I'm having with it is the photograph. I'm one of those people who would rather keep out of the spotlight if I can help it. I bust my ass at work and for the union behind the scenes. I'm the research flunky and tech guru on the floor at work and for the union. I can lead, but prefer not to, I'd rather be an indian instead of a chief. But with my coworker out for at least 3 or 4 months for surgery, who's the vice president of the union, I have to step out of the shadow and onto the front line to try to fill in for him. Not in office, but in trying to do the job he did.

So, it's a combination of pissed off and scared to death, because I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

Fake it til you make it. it's worked for me in the past lol.

Lol...feels like I'm doing that right now. I feel like I'm talking through my ass most of the time. I swear. Even when I know what I'm talking about.

Why oh why oh why did you have to go have quadruple bypass surgery? And why now?

Gah.. A quad bypass.. fuck..he may not be coming back at all, that kind of surgery can take the ability to work full time out of you permanently.

and if no one is questioning you then you're faking it rather well.. keep it up and you'll be fine.

Well, he'll fight like a bastard to get back to work, he gets upset when anyone says he can't work. Two months ago, his doctor tried to put him off for a bum knee, he wouldn't go. Right now, his doctor is saying 9 to 12 weeks. He came through the surgery all right and he was up, around and very talkative last night. But, we need to factor in how much of it was the pain medication. He probably won't remember a word he said.

He didn't have a heart attack, so that's one thing. He was just ill with chest pain and vomiting. But he didn't have a heart attack. He was out of the hospital in 3 days then went back in last week for the surgery.

He's relatively healthy, no major medical problems, so I'm hoping he'll be okay. If he's not, he won't tell anybody and he'll show up at work if he can get somebody to clear him.

This guy is a different breed. I don't know what kind, but he's a miserable son of a bitch if he can't have what he wants and he'll be miserable enough to make them let him come back to work.

People who use an office coffee maker and after filling their cup, proceed to stand in place and take their sweet time adding and mixing sugar and creamer - all the while standing in front of the machine and not stepping to the side so the next person can fill their cup and go! Blocking the coffee maker in the morning is a crime.

One of our residents passed away last Tuesday,I think it was. Today Mr F, who lives right next door to him asked me where Mr H went to. He's almost deaf so he likely didn't hear the announcement. He started to cry when I told him that Mr H passed away last week and the funeral was on Saturday.

I'm pissed off at myself and the other thirty people that I work with, that no one bothered to make sure that Mr F was at least told in time to make it to the funeral.

That sucks on a whole other level. I'm glad you can do that kinda work. Some people can, most cannot. I couldn't work with the elderly everyday knowing that I might not be able to finish a conversation we were having the day before.

No, Diet Mountain Dew gets its sweetness from Aspartame, not HFCS. HFCS has calories in it, whereas Diet Mountain Dew does not.

Ingredients:
Carbonated Water
Concentrated orange juice
Citric acid
Natural flavor
Citrus pectin
Potassium benzoate (preserves freshness)
Aspartame
Potassium citrate
Caffeine (36 mg/8 fl.oz.) -- equates to 54 mg/12 fl.oz.
Sodium citrate
Acesulfame potassium
Sucralose
Gum arabic
Sodium benzoate (preserves freshness)
Calcium disodium EDTA
Brominated vegetable oil
Yellow 5

I don't drink the shit because "Brominated vegetable oil" makes me think of some dude in an Ed Hardy shirt dipping his balls in a vat of Wesson.

Women who believe that they are neither physically capable of moving a computer from one desk to another nor knowledgeable enough to unhook and reconnect the cables.

I could understand if you're elderly and shouldn't be lifting or and never used a computer before. But these are people 18-50something year old employees who've worked in the same office environment using computers for years.

As soon as move times comes they play the 'I'm incapable of moving my computer and you need to do it for me card'.

If women want to be treated like equals, start by learning not to act like a feeble imbecile when it comes to moving a computer.

It's not just women who pull this stunt. I deal with this mentality from time to time and the answers is usually the same: "I trouble shoot computer problems, I don't move them. You will need to call maintenance and schedule some riggers if you need assistance with moving."

My coworker, who I'm filling in for because he had surgery last week, well he finally went home from the hospital yesterday and he's doing well, just bored off his ass in bed waiting for his chest to heal. Anyway, due to that boredom, he made a couple threatening phone calls to management.

Due to these threatening phone calls, I have to start training next Wednesday night on a job called Asst. Roll Coordinator, after I spend next Tuesday in towmotor training class, so I can legally drive a towmotor equipped with a roll clamp.

I wanted to call him today and ask him what the fuck he's thinking and tell him I was just fine in roll wrap where I belong...but no, now I get to learn to stack rolls of paper, training with someone I can't fucking stand. Man, he's family, but damn it, he is the most stubborn son of a bitch I have ever known in my entire life and those bastards upstairs will give him anything he want because he's stuck in bed till he heals up.

I wanna say make a fucking list of shit that needs to be done, but keep me off of it till you get your ass back to work.

I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry.
