Can't you go to Staples and buy a $49 printer yourself and then take a sick day to reimburse yourself?

Nope! I'd get in deep crap for messing with the client's equipment. Knowing my luck, some asshole will just take the printer for himself. Not only would I be back to square one, but I'll also be out $49. Lesson learned from when I bought a kettle for work. Someone needed a new one at home so they just swapped the burnt out one from their home for the new one I bought.

Corporate-speak.

Some stand out comments from over the years:

"You're asking a lot of questions, but not asking the right questions."

"We're not sure that you don't know what you don't know."

"Why are your stores numbers so low?"
"Because the economy sucks"
"Well sell more"

*facepalm*

"Why are your stores numbers so low?" (Scenario 2)
"Because there's no one in the parking lot"
"Go put flyers on peoples cars down the street"
"I'm the only one here"
"Oh... think of something else to do"

Me: "We have a real concern about reports that you have been dozing at your desk, and your production numbers are way off."

Bullshitting employee: "The work I do causes my hands and back to hurt, and the meds I take for pain makes me sleepy. I'm requesting a medical accomodation."

Haaha, it looks like that guy it trying to play the game. Those game players never seem to last long though.

Follow up: Well perhaps you can schedule you naps during breaks and lunchtime. Professionally it does not look good for you or I have employees sleeping out there on the floor. Also, I like to come up with creative solutions to problems. I would like to assign you this [insert shitty project no one wants to do at all and will be put off for the next 4 years here] to keep you occupied as well so that your attention is peaked and you many not have the desire to fall asleep at your desk.

Furthermore, I'll have to be contacting HR over something like this. To have a note added to your recorded starting that you're requesting paid naps at work. Perhaps we shouldn't have you working here at all, because if it's causing you any pain at all, as a manager I couldn't bear to put you through that.

(basically enough to say "Go ahead shitty worker. Pull that shit and I'm going to make you're life hell")

It's game playing but we're going to consider the accomodation. She needs to produce documentation from a doctor that backs up her claim. An ergonomic evaluation to find out what makes her hands hurt, etc. Too bad this info has to come out when the employee is placed on final warning. Worse, her supervisor knew of her complaints and never followed up on it.

Exhaustion. I hate the swing shift schedule.

Then on top of this, people who continually bicker with their coworkers and expect others to intervene when they don't want to air their grievances with the people they work with.

I've got a situation at work with a group of people who have an issue with one coworker. These people refuse to talk to this person, so expect union representation to intervene and try to get the problem solved.

Can't people just work together for 8 hours without biting each others heads off? Drama is bullshit, especially around heavy machinery. All I want is one quiet day where I don't have to break up an argument.

What's worse, it's always the same people. Everybody else seems to get along but this group.

On top of all of this, and this is the cherry...the person they're upset with thinks that all we have done is lie to her about it and we're trying to fix the situation by talking to her about it before it gets to management. Nobody wants to be the bad guy, so we have to.

The help desk person who when told that a co-workers computer won't boot past the BOIS because there's an error reading the hard disk tries to remote in. Then when receiving an error attempting to log in remotely, he thinks I've provided him the wrong computer name. I tell him the computer isn't even turned on and he keeps trying to remote in. Lol.

1. Weak ass excuses why people can't get shit done.

2. Waiting until the last possible minute to make something an emergency

3. Conference get togethers on birthdays / babyshowers / and anything else totally not work related. I come to work to get paid and get out. Not to socialize. It's a JOB it's not supposed to be fun!

4. Asking for contributions towards birthdays / babyshowers, etc..

About two days ago, a resident in her early 60s complained about how she has to do everything for herself. She was from a wealthy family in India. She complained that here in Canada, there are no cooks, maids, chauffeurs or servants to open and hold doors for her so that she didn't have to open a door like a common peasant.

It was all I could do to stop myself from saying:

"Welcome to Canada. We freed our slaves a long time ago."

And no, she's not disabled either.

Sure, we have all those in Canada, the big obstacle is that you have to PAY for them to do that kind of stuff (and a decent wage at that).

Ah entitlement, some people love to live up in fairyland.

They start at $260,000 for a one bedroom up to $1Million for the penthouse. The one she's in is around $400,000.

Exactly. And to top it off, a lot of these people are unwilling to pay for these privileges as well. At another condo I worked at, a couple of residents demanded that the cleaners clean their units after their shift was done. When they were told the cost per hour, the residents said they were entitled to have the service for free. They even complained to the manager and were told 'TFB'.

How that manager kept a straight face, I'll never know.

Of the appx. 10 security guards where I work, only the one fat old bastard will stop me every effing time I walk into the building I work at every day. And today I was even wearing two ID badges from my employer. What a prick.

*shudders*

Well he did let three women of his age walk right in no questions asked (I was holding the door for them) and then stops me instead.

Next time I hear "can I help you?" I'm just going to say 'no thanks' and keep walkin'.

Now that I think about it, it might be the same guy that a friend of mine has freaked out on in the past.

If you are applying for a job, take off any stupid callback tone from your phone while on the job search. I don't like to call a candidate who looks good on the application and have to listen to "me so horny" or some rap song with cursing/sexual lyrics while waiting for you to pick up......not a good look! And have a decent professional voicemail, don't make me listen to a whole CD before the beep! And if you email your resume don't have your return email address be something like "[email protected]"
